Could have been worse... could have been "English Dog Piss".

I chose the Toffee, but found out it was a mistranslation (英国的咖啡 means English Coffee).

Indeed, reminded me of a signboard menu from a Greek resort trying to translate meatballs in sauce into something more understandable to tourists from the west and those from Balcans.

The english speaking audience got away lightly because they just wrote 'soutzoukaki' but things escalated quickly from there because someone obviously used english as an intermediate and somehow picked [Removed by Support] as the most adequate translation. Unfortunately, when you take it further you get [Removed by Support], except the actual term they picked is extremely insulting and unadulterated by any kind of secondary meaning, like instruments, or meatballs.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

A plausible theory

One day, a saturday afternoon, Chriss fills a cup of coffee and starts arranging his magic the gathering deck.
Suddenly one of his cards slips out of his hands into the coffee.

Never again he thought to himself traumatized, after a second of internal deliberation on which one had to go he decided on the coffee.

And so, as a distraction for "getting of the juice" Path Of Exile was born.

Cute and all, but where does "never liked the taste" fit in? You have to dig deeper, further back. His childhood, perhaps. I think he's traumatized by tasting bad, cold coffee forced on him by a bully in scout camp.

Now that's a theory.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Lucky you, I can't think of any way to tell the story from before without using offensive language.

A good thing I didn't pick the one with a Russian woman ordering roast chicken.

It's simpler than that, honestly. When you do enough late nights working on a game (or any software really), you just begin to associate coffee with suffering.
