Why are the resistances capped?

It is nothing more than a numbers game. You could call it 100% Elemenal Resistance and give Penetration to the enemey or you can call it 75% and cap it there.
Since this is a game where you can die, you need to take damage, so immunity is not an option.
It is pretty retarded. Instead of hard cap there should be a soft cap with severe diminishing returns.

let be short and honest the game favour magic over physical ,just look the skill gem , is easy to get around 85% to 90% physical damage reduction , but not for Resistance , also you have a lot of option to drop the Resistance vs physical , just look the skill tree and tell me what is the equivalent of
elemental equilibrium for physical Oo ?, let hope one day this game will have some armor ring amulet having + max Resistance , i`m not asking for Guardian Angel :), but maybe something +5 and i think this will help to balance pvp a little bit pvp , just my 2 cent peace

It could be a permanent scar to the soul that could not be avoided by leaving Wreaclast.
