How would I do PvP... by a SSF player.

You decide you want to try PvP... just go with me... it could happen.

You go to someone like Gruest or Leo and say "sign me up!".

You are given a new character, not by choice but by random chance. It has basic gear and some skill gems you may or may not like and are thrust into an area about the size of Dried Lake. Chests in this area drop about 10x what they normally would, particularly gems and drops are "smart" for your character's class. Monsters drop more "crafting" currency. You run this area and prep yourself for PvP as best you can with what you get. Some will spend more time and effort here, others will just jump into PvP and hope for the best.

After that, you enter an arena mode with another player who has gone through the same process as you did and fight it out.

You can swap equipment/skills out and re-enter another fight, but don't get another shot at the PvE area.

After that, the characters are deleted and all items/currency found are deleted as well. You characters in the regular game are unaffected... or perhaps gain rep with Leo.

as an optional random mode... fine i guess

but you kind of miss out on building a guy from the ground up specifically for PvP largely due to items and what not

not that I care about PvP at all lol

the could do like guild wars used to do where you could make a high LvL PvP only guy and deck him out with a huge selection of gear
I dont see any any key!
The problem with "build a guy from the ground up specifically for PvP" is that you don't get to fight anyone... because no one else wants to fight you.

I'm not saying to remove that style of play. Both of the players doing it should be encouraged to continue.

I think you missing a big point here. You need to make PvP a thing, them diferent options and stuff in general can happen Would be pointless to add mods to a death system.

Only a dumbass pays for a F2P game.

wouldn't the other PvP guys want to fight you?

or are you just referencing how dead PvP is right now?

Wasnt you Shag that said in another PvP thread that ggg doesnt need anyone to tell then what to do, that they dont care and dont need your ideas?

Kind weird
Don't think I told GGG what to do... I said what I would do.

PvP came up in another thread, about Leo not being offered to SSF players, and got me thinking about PvP and how I would do it. Rather than hijack that thread I started this one.

Your "big point" must be really hard to explain, because I have no idea what you're talking about.

There you go homie ;=)
Only a dumbass pays for a F2P game.
GGG heavily invested in PVP for an entire season with multiple added systems into the game just for PVP, a whole host of pvp items and pvp gems/balancing.

Which basically did nothing for PVP anyway, so that was a large waste of resources. Throwing more at it wouldn't make it any better, especially since the system is already bare bones enough (an improved D2 outside camp dueling system) that if people wanted to PVP they should make GGG initial investment worth it by actually using it.

The "if you make it, they will come" strategy clearly isn't going to work here.
