Why POE is a broken game - Too many bad things in 3.0
Well, i agree completely with all the things you've said here.
It explain perfectly why i've decided to stop the game since more than a month now. -The new Harbinger league that really sucks when we got legacy and breach league before. -The Nerf of ES has destroyed a massive amount of cool builds. Now we have to play life/ES builds, just like that. Instead of just removing the ES nods behing CI, they have nerfed ES completely, enough to make pure ES builds unplayable Nerf in each update is becoming unbearable when you take time to push your character far with the best gear as possible. -The lab that is for me the most annoying way ever to farm currencies or uniques (where most of the rewards at the end are complete garbage). -The currency market is awful. Too many flippers, always the feeling of being riped off, the guys that are not responding or too busy in league.. -I personnally always have latency spikes, which makes the game really annoying to play (which i don't have on D3, or on any other game) -The loots are completely missing, and since a long time. Always trash that drops from monsters... I'm tired of doing regular atziri, it's so boring, mortal hope never coming... Tired of doing guardians to reach a complete shaper set that will grant me at the end the boots of the gloves... -The trade system : ... (spamm of trash items in a chat... God...) -Party play is only good with friends you know. Otherwise, it's not worth it. -THE LACK OF INFORMATIONS, CLARITY about the statistics of the character (real dps). We have to use a non official soft PoE Building to make sure we're not going in the wrong direction. -Build a new original, fun and reliable character for end game content is nearly impossible now... Ah i miss the good old time of the WormBlaster, this was the most fun and original build i've ever played :'( -Too many times when a full passive respec is available, i'm trying to see if i can reconstruct a character. And each time at the end i decide to just close the game and do something else because i can no more play to just relax, it has become too complicated now to just make one build. Actually, if i'm not using the soft to tell me exactly how the build is going to be, then i'll screw 100% of the time, even with this, there are so many things i need to pay attention. And for that; i've just given up now. In short : having Path of building openened and theory craft for hours to be sure to not miss anything, then realize i'll probably fail => PUBG. -The fact i know that i can't freely be able to reaffect points when i fail a character kills my creativity. -Always more poison/chaos build meachanics, now with bleeding... -The craft sucks : Need to have all masters lvl 8 to begin the fun, costs are too expensive, too much random in the mods, level 8 required to remove a mod... Essence : so useless that i personnally see essences as pokemons, trying to catch them all to have my essence stash grid full. I'll wait like a defeated villain in my secret base, just waiting the right time to come back... And when i see how things are going, it's not going to happen tomorrow... So let me get this straight. He has a minion build where the Shaper kills the exile but the minions live on and he just watches and waits until they kill the Shaper? Seriously? GGG allows that to pass QC? Wow, that is way broken and I'm surprised that GGG hasn't patched already to make minions die when the exile dies. Hey GGG... wake up and fix this! We don't need no stinkin' bullshit way to kill Shaper easy and then troll post that game is too easy.

" Not quite at 8, but not proud of the ones i have right now. I don't agree with everything in there, but i do agree completely that this game has been going downhill since the last year or so. The last league i enjoyed was probably essence which already wasn't that superb to begin with, but at least it introduced some extra fixed stat crafting possibilities that were welcome. * The constant nerfs to slow down top tier builds often SEEM to be thought up without a deep analysis of what the nerfs will do to ALL other builds. I've been playing since closed beta and i wouldn't even be able to guess anymore as to how many non-op builds have been completely trashed and made unusable by the constant nerfs. * Meanwhile, the difficulty is always being upgraded and the rewards, which have always been very low when compared to any other argp i've ever played, including the most important and successful one, D2, were hardly changed. A prime example is the recent insufferable map boss life buff. * After the initial jolt of interacting with the system for the first time, who runs prophecies anymore ? Even before the, i lost count, what, like 3 or 4 nerfs now to reach of the council, that bow already sort of was the only reason to keep running them in endgame. After those changes, the whole thing turned into a waste of time, and now, with the added 3.0 changes to prophecies, it's even worse. This things needs some SERIOUS work. * Not a fan of the new Pantheon system either. I appreciate the work put in and all, but i feel it just adds another layer of complexity to a game which already had enough of that (build diversity is NOT an issue of POE). And, while optional, means more boring grinding to complete (which POE also had enough of already) and is most likely still going to be taken into account by the devs to balance mob and boss difficulty on, and could thus very well turn out not REALLY being optional at all... * I can't speak for other players, and Fall of Oriath, granted, is still quite new, so hopefully things will improve, but to me personally, 3.0 is a bug ridden mess. I've never had more performance problems and graphical glitches in this game since it's inception than i have now. And please add more servers or upgrade your IT infrastructure GGG, cause, lately, the lag has severely increased for me too... * Agreed on party play being a horror show too. Waaaay too many effects to make it fun and if i'm not mistaken, they even seem to have ADDED stuff in 3.0. Dear god Add to those the issues that have always been there from the start and i'm really finding myself less and less inclined to play, which i hate, since POE has always been the new D2 for me : * The transparency of information has always been somewhat iffy, but i can live with that. But, again, agreed it could use some work. * The risk/reward issue has been brought up many, many times, but that only shows how much more most people loved the slightly more predictable loot tables of Diablo2. I have to say that, to me, it'd be a welcome change to have this whole insane weighted RNG system reworked. It's all good and fun as long as you're not hitting a dry streak, but there's nothing more annoying than putting in like 500+ hours without seeing a single drop worth more than a few chaos. And before you laugh that off, it can happen to you too * Lastly, just adding one of my biggest pet peeves to round it all out, but, seriously, the whole "creating legacy items things" by not retroactively patching existing items, is the worst decision that was ever made for this game. And i'm saying this as someone who actually has been playing long enough to still own some of those items. Personally, i'd love it if they would still want to reverse that. They can patch my OP stuff, no problem, just do it for everyone. I don't know what they were thinking back then. It turns off new players, it made standard the cesspool it is and in which many players don't want to play and i just can't seem to see any advantage to it. Why was this ever done ? Please GGG, appreciate all the hard work, but there's some work to be done. I think nobody is going to deny that even if people disagree with the things i wrote here. I agree with most of the points, however I strongly disagree with "the game is too easy". Actually the game is currently way to hard in terms of damage dealt, and there are a few broken builds.
The high damage values make many builds completely unplayable, so people roll one of the current OP builds and trash through the content, then complain how easy everything is. If GGG would now make the game every more difficult, so that those OP builds are challenged, then you could basically give up on the current skill system and force people to choose one of the remaining OP builds as classes and nothing else, simply because no other build could even remotely reach the endgame. What this game needs is a lot less variance in effectiveness of builds. In other words: balance. |

1. The "Endgame"- Trivialised game-content
Almost agree with you. I don't think the endgame is too easy, I think it's too easy to get the gear of OP build which tivialised endgame. Personally, I don't rush the game, I do the build I really like, I don't follow the meta OP build, and guardian/shaper are still a challenge. But I agree with you, currently PoE is to do the OP build, farming/flipping all the currency to get the HH, and rollface all the content. Then it's more valuable to speed farm currency in T10/T11 with the HH, instead of doing high tier content. 2. The new challenge league „Harbinger“ Also agree with you!! This league is terrible and the most awful I've ever played. Especially after Breach league. It feels playing in standard. 3. The 3.0 Update „Fall of Oriath“ Agree this you!! I'm so disappointed about 3.0. This patch should make the levelling more fun, and it's absolutely not the case. Bosses are OP for a levelling phase. Avarius is like a nut shot for any melee build which don't play Ancestral Totem. A lot of builds need a separate source of DPS, like totem or minion, to beat the boss while moving. And the difficulty difference between Kitava act10 and the first map... LOOOL If you are not well geared, you'll die dozen times on Kitava and then rollface T1 map. The balance is shit. Pantheon?! What is this? 4. The Uberlab - Izaro Almost agree with you!! I like the idea of a great lab reward, fast run with adapted build and/or skill/gameplay. But I don't do lab just because of server stability and game crash. Doing 15/30 minutes lab and crashing at the last room is fucking frustrating. 5. The currency market, the prices and the values Agree with you!! Some people don't want AH like in Diablo 3 vanilla. But the fact is that we already have an AH on Path of Exile, it's called "poe.trade". A lot of players don't play the game but play trading game: flip item, flip currency, scamming, ect. The actual trade system makes that you are more rewarded speed farming currency. You don't need to farm item, just currency, then buy your OP item and then beat all game content. And it also makes rich players richer. When RNG hits right, you better sell the item/currency/whatever for a lot of chaos/ex, buy all the stuff you need for the OP meta build, then farm Uber/Shaper and get richer. Then buying HH, and get richer and richer again. 6. Poor interaction of game-mechanics Also agree, a lot of skill is useless now. I started to play PoE in 2013 because there was so lot builds viable. That was insane. Now if you don't follow the meta, you'll not see more than T11 and/or Guardian/Shaper. The game slowly follows the D3 footprint, 1 class = 1 gear = 1 build, that's all. You wanna play your favorite skill and kill shaper with it? Not possible if it's not the meta skill, or you need GG gear... but you have the AH to get all the gear you want, just need time to flip currency or scam some noobs. 7. Terrible servers / game-stability Agree with you!! Every expansion, GGG tell us they've improved performance/servers, ect... and every time we ended with suck servers, bad latency, disconnect, game crash... Seriously GGG, fix your servers, I have no latency problem on other games, PoE is the ONLY game on which I get 100ms latency (only 30ms in other games), and I tried with my connection and also with some VPN. Europe servers suck as fuck. 8. The Essences Crafting is RNG, essences is still RNG. As I don't have luck in this game, I didn't use essence. As always in this game, I get more rewarded selling essences than using them. A T7 Greed essence worse 15c on poe.trade. LOL. More valuable to sell it and buy your OP boots with resistance and movement speed... 9. The new prophecy system Agree with you!! I didn't use prophecy at all just because the RNG to proc shit prophecy is too high. This is so frustrating. I re-try to use it in Harbinger just to have this fucking Pale Council by myself. But I'm pretty sure that RNG is going to be bad again, and I'll buy Pale Concil fragments on poe.trade. Or directly buy the Pale Council kill on trade 820. Good game. 10. The Loot Agree with you!! As I said above, in this game, it is more valuable to speed farm currency and cross finger to get OP unique, instead of playing high tier map. Currently, the meta is to speed farm shaped spider forest and hope for The Doctor card. Buy spider forest, alch, sextant blocking, run the map in 30seconds, loot only value currency, don't waste time, then repeat for hours/days/weeks. The Doctor dropped ? congratz you're gonna be rich. The Doctor didn't drop ? Don't worry, sell all your exalted orb/T12 map/T13 map, buy shaped spider forest and repeat. 11. The tradesystem Agree with you!! "Poe.trade" is a fucking Auction House like it was in D3 vanilla. And now, we have to deal with flipping item price, currency low cost, and scammer. I find it even worse than D3 AH, because with poe.trade and awesome "player interaction" you can manipulate prices as you want and just do "/dnd" or ignore whisp. As PoE is free I'm pretty sure that some players manipulate the prices using a secondary account and let it AFK... Finally, poe.trade makes players getting the endgame gear easier, so don't complain that endgame is easy. The endgame is not easy, it's just too easy to get the better gear. 12. Unattractive Party-Play Can't play in party, servers suck. And when I play in party, I get quite less currency. Partying is not worth. In conclusion: I miss build diversity I miss 2.6 levelling less frustrating/annoying (act5 & act10 are OP, some other acts are too long, boss for pantheon are strong and non rewarding) I miss fun build, fun league, pinata loot I miss looting the items I need instead farming currency to buy them I miss a good balance between boss HP/Drop But still love this game, and can't stop playing it <3 Last edited by Shinjuku#0316 on Sep 4, 2017, 7:02:10 AM

" Congrats on drinking the kool-aid. The point is that lab sucks donkey dick because of the instability of the server. No one cares if you respect people that enjoy running lab , most people don't enjoy running lab because it usually ends with a dc/crash or even a death due to instability/lag teleportation into a trap. As for the ''if you don't like it don't run it'' that could work if ascendancy was not based on lab, but it is therefore everyone is forced to run lab unless they like to gimp themselves. |
