Any chance you can elaborate on your ED set up? What tree / gems were you using? Was it better clear speed?

For speed farming right now, i'm using:

When I shield charge into a pack, it procs the storm cascade. Its linked with curse on hit vuln / flam, so every shield charge procs elemental overload and double curse, so things just melt. It feels like a good compromise between scourge and brightbeak

Here is the end goal tree i was planning https://pastebin.com/5fNyqu12. Instead of ele focus and burning dmg - void manipulation(empower could be better here) and decay. Instead of BR-IC-CwDT and orb - spell totem + whither and contagion + inc aoe.

Clear speed was better, breaches were a blast. Boss kill time was much slower.

Nice idea with the sword. It should also proc EE, so basically gets everything up at once.

I've been playing the vanilla budget version of your build [1st char] and liking it so far. When do I add SR or AG to my build? does it require a certain amount of gear?
also, Have a look at my char and tell me what i can change or improve?

I'm doing some t10 maps atm can possibly do better ones but just playing it safe.

SR u can start using from lvl 12. AG u can also using right now, but at least lvl 18 gem. I would recommend to buy a lvl 19/20 q20 AG to ensure the survivability. Since if he dies, u need to rebuy all the items again.

Basically all of the gear, except wapon, shield and helmet could use and upgrade. Fr SR gems setup follow the guide, urs is bad.

Basically yeah. Need quite a bit of mana regen. But it depend on how much life u got. If u rly want, u can lower ur life and make it much easier to run RF.

Another newbie here. Played the game back in 2014 and am just coming back and trying to relearn now this game works. i wanted to play some sort of lazer beam wizard and your build came up on google searches.

Having fun with your SR build. Still leveling but wanted to ask a few questions.

First, will i be able to cobble together enough currency to make this viable as my one and only toon? Or do i need the backing of other toons to farm gear for this?

And second, does EE still screw over groups? My plan was to play with some friends (currently doing first tier maps) and i'd forgotten that EE might be an issue. If i plan on playing a lot with them in group do i have to abandon this whole build?

This build is very viable even on very tight budged. So no, u dont need other farming toons for it and u should easily be able to get enough currency. Only chayula's domain would most likely be not doable.

Yes, EE still can screw up other ppl dps. 1st i would advise u to speak with ur friends, maybe they can play builds, which r limited to 2 elements, fire and lighting/cold. Phys and chaos builds r ofc also an option. A crit inquisitor is also possible with any element, since they dont care about resists anymore. This way they could also benefit from u.

If u play with several ppl and only 1 of them gets the negative aspect of EE, then others will more than equalize for this person.

2nd u could just unspec from EE. U would still clear everything, just slower. Doesnt break the build. And if u decide to do the very endgame content(shaper, guardians, uber atziri), u can just spec 1 point back in it and done. 2 regrets now and then is nothing ;)

Another question. Can you translate this to newbie? i know i dont' have to currency to do it yet but once i'm at the point that relevant ilvl items are dropping in want to understand what this all means. I thought i'd figured out the way rarity and prefixes/suffixes worked but maybe i'm mistaken.

Simple:
Just alt spam until u get high spell dmg/fire dmg pref + burning dmg/fire dmg suff. Regal and craft leo mod. Thats what i did with mine.

If u hit high atk speed or mana regen mod, still worth to regal and hope for burning/fire dmg.

The best case scenario:
U hit t1/t2 spell dmg/fire dmg/spell dmg hybrid for pref and high burning dmg.

If spell dmg/fire rolled, regal and hope for prefix, flat fire is a brick, everything else is ok, mana or + to gem lvl is good. Now multimod, craft leo mod and %fire dmg from cata.

If hybrid spell dmg, hope for good atk speed/fire dmg/mana regen, high str/int/res is also acceptable. Now multimod craft leo mod and %spell dmg from cata.

In both cases, if bricked(hit pref/suff istead of suff/pref or bad mod), use annulment orb and try to get the bad mod away. If success, multimod and get flat mana/fire dmg as a 3rd mod."

Sounds like you are saying to find a high ilvl sceptter. Spam alteration orbs until you get a prefix and suffix that you want. Then you regal orb it to make it a rare and add one more random affix. and finally add the leo DOT prefix. This results in a scepter that has 3 affixes that you want and one random one. Then if you can get elreon to lvl 8 and get the exalted orbs you add his multimod as your 5th affix. and finally catalina's spell/fire damage suffix as your 6th affix. ???

"Alt" as in "orb of alteration" and not as in "alternative character" :)

Alt spam means, u just get a lot of those orbs and use them until u get the desired effect. With the use of orb of augmentation, if needed.

Be careful about this tho. It can burn a lot of currency away without any good effect. While the benefit is there, it comes for a very high price. The difference between the scourge and my scepter is 45% increased dmg, the cost of it is hundreds of chaos. The scourge will cost u 1c the scepter easy 500c. 1st make sure, all ur other gear is in a stage, where the upgrade would also cost u that much.
