Lightning Arrow Build - Which Gem combination? [Fork VS Chain]

I'm doing a Lightning Arrow build, can you guys tell me what is the best combination of gems to use?

My biggest issue is if I should use Chain or Fork.

Also, if I should be using Weapon Elemental Damage already or wait for a 5L...

Here are both my single target and AoE gem setups:

Tips please?

Use LA+Chain+Life gain on hit+LMP with your 4 Link.

the chain+LMP will proc the life on hit like crazy.

When you find a 5L throw a Weapon elemental DMG in it. You should be leveling one of those gems in your weapon swap. good luck.

Thank you, but can you please explain to me why is Chain better than Fork?

Chain will direct itself at an enemy after it strikes its first target, while fork send more projectiles, they have no direction. They may or may not hit a target after they fork, while chain will always attack a nearby enemy. Not always hit if the mob moves, but it will go after the mob at least.

I see. Can you tell me in which situations is Fork better than Chain, if any?

When mobs are more spaced out, when dmg isnt a factor, when accuracy is. When the attacks are faster, and the mobs arent.

Compared, Fork is better when dmg is an issue, and the mobs are more clustered. If the attacks are slower, sometimes fork is better, because you can plan the trajectory of the extra projectiles.

Chain works well with arc, and fork works well with spark.

One thing I just noticed and is that with chain, LA consumes 58 hp instead of 36 with Fork and the DPS is 131 instead of 200 with Fork.

Is it really worth using Chain even with the higher costs and lower damage?

Look, I didnt suggest using the damn skill, if you dont wanna use it, then dont use it. I gave you the reason behind fork vs chain. Its up to you now.

The thing is that you dont actually do 131 dmg, that dps is calculated on a single target i belive and as we all know LA+LMP+Chain is all about AOE.
With Chain you will hit the same target multiple times due to LA build in AOE but with Fork that aint guaranteed.

I suggest using LA+WEP+LOH+LMP before u get a 5l and use projectile weakness curse, u get alot of pierce chance.
After u get 5L go with conductivity and add Chain into the equation.

Thank you very much for the explanation!
