Is it time to increase the number of default stash tabs?

Back when I first played POE in 1.2 and 1.3, four tabs seemed like a pretty good amount. But since then, GGG has added essences, tarot cards, new shards and orbs, and jewels. Even back then, without all of these things, my ten tabs seemed a bit cramped by the time I got to end game maps. I can't imagine how bad stash clutter is now for people with only four tabs.

Much of the praise I hear from people for this game is that it has never been "pay to win", but it's becoming increasingly difficult not to notice this "inventory creep". People with larger stashes have more options and more flexibility in their gameplay, and they do get a noticeable edge, whether it's through more storage space for trading, or simply not feeling like they are forced to get rid of things that may be useful just to make some space.

I love this game, which is why I'm making this post, and I have sunk a lot of money into it. The game doesn't succeed solely because of its paying players, but also because of the social capital and interaction the free players bring in. Without them, the game world would be a lot less interesting and fun. I think it's time to increase the stash tabs, at least to keep up with all of these additions.

You just have to look at the new currency tab rework for you question to be answered...They added maybe 8 or 10 new slots(not sure) but at the same time they added double that currency...(coincidence?)

I think for most people who aren't wealthy and don't have super endgame stacks of 1000s of alts and stuff, it's probably better to just get stash tabs than a currency tab. Essence though, that shit takes up so much space with 9 tiers for each type. I get that the developers have to make money, but it's getting to a point where I worry that people new to the game will get really frustrated with how little space there is for all of this stuff. It seems counter-intuitive to good game design to purposefully annoy people until they buy stuff, just to lessen the tedium of your game's systems. Why not redirect that money into more cosmetics so you have players who are happy instead of players who begrudgingly give in to the system?

Essence though

You have to play at least $10-20 worth of PoE before essences are really a problem.

........

Stash tabs have always been P2W but will this trend force ggg to finally admit it? even to ........ THEMSELVES?!

Well, IDK. If they didn't want to admit it when public stash tabs were introduced, they probably won't admit it now. Kinda Trumpian tbh.
I still think the game is ... much much messier with only four tabs available. And hey, I know they make living out of selling them. Plus, there are sometimes sales as well.

Then, as a reference, one of the first questions I got from my friends that I tried to introduce to PoE was : "How the hell am I supposed to store all my stuff?".

I tried to help them a bit by supplying some guild tabs, but that is just a band-aid.

I really wish they reconsider the default tab number, every time they introduce new currency (or shards of thereof). But I know they won't. Otherwise, they would do that long ago (during Essence at the latest).

So, yeah. It is a situation, but sort of clinched one.
Just make 1 or 2 essence mule characters. You get 24 free character slots.

Actually if you are new and get to a point where you found 20 different Essences, you probably have played dozens and dozens of hours for free already...
I would like to have the option to gain additional tabs by playing the game. Look at Blizzard and D3, if you do the challenges there, you can gain a new tab every season. Why can´t GGG add this?

Overall, D3 offers a very fair amount of MTX and you gain them by playing the game. To me, this is much better than giving stuff out for free or hiding it behind a paywall.
People are never happy and want all for free, please stop complain !!!

Player who play 60 hours to X years should consider to spend some money in this game if they can afford it (at least 10/20/30$ in enough only for some tab). This game need some money to be online guys and economic model of path of exile is the better i saw with dota/lol.

POE isn't a F2p game, it's a real free game. Never forget it.

In case where you can't pay for extra tab because no money, i understand your complain and i am happy you can play for free to POE but if you want more storage then make alt char/account. :)

You know D3 MTX is hidden behind a paywall of at least 60$.
(And after i payed 60$, during the first 3 weeks i had a day off and the servers were down the whole day!)

I hear the new character is also hidden behind a paywall of 15$...

That's right.

And we know if one day GGG add a new char, it will remain free.
