Very unhappy with passive point transfer in standard

With the addition of act 4, long time ago, the general structure of the game didnt change the slightest. All that 'happened' was that the new zones were put between dominus and twilight strand. THIS time the expansion changes the complete architecture, there is NOTHING 'left' after Malachai in NORMAL. Anything behind it is completely NEW. Now, the only way they could do this, IS to give your chars just the mainline (with all consequences) right to the access to maps (if 'you' pass the requirement). Your char CANT have the rewards for sidequests he'd never done.

Disclaimer: I didnt access my standard chars until yet so I cant obviate that there could be some bugs. (it sounds as if there are problems with some quests, like the bandit redecision. I expect this to be fixed soon).

For the complaints about Kitava and act 5 in general: as the main storyline is 'done', there is indeed NO way to access to areas that not longer exists after Innocence's fall. This is how act 5 works, and this is only possible with a fresh access. For Kitava: I haven't checked to visit him a second time in beta, so I cant say how its handled in act 5. I'd expect the cathedral to be open (because the quest had needed it) so maybe a bug as above if not the case. You should have access to the WP after the roof. And of course its a 'failed' quest because THIS fight is NOT to win, for all chars. Thats (again) how act 5 works.

This results in a mindless grind to get my passives back, not fun.

Right, so then based on your reply, it makes totally sense to you that Std players by default had all main quests done because of the map device, right? This option makes no sense at all because it is not good for any group.

(1) Those that want to map directly are still forced to check side quests for getting skill points, and those side quests feel weird as it is not possible to know what is going on. It is absurd to do side quests having all main quests done. All quests should have been given directly.

(2) Those that wan to play the story line lost their opportunity, which is extremely sad. Plus they get all spoilers if they want to do maps because the need of getting all remaining skill points.

Very, very bad implementation to Std players. As zana says: still sane, exile? Well of course not!!!
when i redone quests it let me "choose" if tasuni rules town or iratha. but with no explanation i picked iratha and i hate her already. WTF

Killing the Elder or Shaper while following someone's build is like finding a street using google maps - such an achievement!

indeed. but as pointed out many times, should not need that much time if you're high and geared. And after the first char, it should be even faster to rush...
I expect that for the most chars, the needed time to adapt the build onto all the changes is higher then to rush through the new acts just for waypoints and sidequests.
It IS a struggle if you want to do it immediately with all your 10 or 20 chars - but that's totally up to you...

Thats a point I accept (at least partially): they could have given us the option to skip the progress 'gift' with chars that are mapready (to 'start' even with such chars a 'fresh' playthrough after Malachai) But they didnt. :-/ And if you really want an impression about the new stuff, there's no way around making a new char (if there's not also an 'old' one around 40 sitting in your slotlist). Shouldnt also take that long, twinked.

+1. Totally ruined the fun of the new content!
Yeah cause it would of been so fun to run through the new content that is balanced for cruel and merciless on a decked out map character! The only real way to experience the new content and not have it suck is to do it at level, so go and have fun on a new character.
What a mess. Fuck this game. What fucking shit of expansion. Some quests completed some missing. Gl new players have fun and spent a lot $ for them to fuck u in 3 months. bye

Yes, this would have been a fantastic way to do it. I was hoping to blast through the new content to catch the story line and get familiar with the new acts. Then it would be right back to end game for me. This patch is awesome in it's content but the majority of that content is for league and new players, which I am fine with. I just wish they would have somehow made the transition more pleasant. Instead of me standing in a new town wondering what is going on and how I got there and with no quest lines to follow.

Well, I guess I will make a new build to experience the new content then delete it and go back to what I enjoy, endgame. This is what GGG wants I guess?

I am not salty; just a bit disappointed

I'm not playing or paying until fixed. See what I told y'all about buying packs in advance? Never do it unless happy with product for this reason so you have no regrets.

One of the intelligent things Aim has said. Stop buying packs until things work and you agree with their changes.

If they can auto complete the main quest for act 5-10 then why is it impossible to auto complete the side quests where we get our passives so we don't have to do 150+ quests for 20 characters.
