Is there such thing as too much Ram?
Ive got beast of a computer, nvidia gtx 1060 6gb, 8 gb ram, intel 5 processor (cant remember the model off the top of my head), Ssd disk drive.
However, poe still lags in very specific circumstances. My understanding is that the game code is, well, not best, to say the least so it doesnt really matter how powerful of a machine you have. that being said, I recently got a job, so with extra money, is there any reason to buy extra 8 gbs of ram? my primary wish would be that strongbox lag disappears. is there anyone out there who doesnt have strongbox lag? other than it not really effecting PoE performance wise.
Strong box lag should have been fixed (i don't have it now) unless, maybe you are using a command line that prevents it from working normally. The freeze has nothing to do with the amount of ram you have but that the game needs to load it from the HDD to ram. You could for instance, get the other 8 gig and then make a ram drive, which you can load the whole game into ram. Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

" im not reallly tech savy - how do you do that? and would it be profitable if I did it now? |

" Nor am i really, but they whole game would be in ram so there wouldn't be a need for the game to seek and load from the HDD to ram...though if i understood it correctly you would need to load the game to ram at least once every time you turn the PC on which may take some time. Thats why game should have more oprions to change graphic and what loading too, so we can choose best graphic or best performance from remove all parts/reduce graphic and more to NOT get any lags while playing game.

8 gig ram? my phone has this much
ram is cheap. like - it is most probably the cheapest pc part you can get. get yourself 16gb and enjoy the benefits if you are tech savvy - get yourself as much as you can afford and then dump as much temp/cache files onto a ramdisc. if you feeling brave - move POE there. some games do not like ramdiscs (and definitely do not move system stuff if you are not fully confident you know what you are doing) but POE is rather easy to ramdisc'ize due to its moderate size. |

" Now now, those phones only came out this year, if they are actually released yet. Or are you trying to say that there is such a thing as too much ram, and your phone has it? :P |

Instead of a ramdrive, wouldn't putting the game on ssd make more sense?

^ generally speaking, no. RAM is faster than SSD.
Some of the PCI SSDs are getting better but I believe they are still orders of magnitude slower than good old-fashioned RAM. TBH have not done any serious research but according to a quick review just now, that seems to be the situation. |

" I guess I don't know how ramdrives work. You somehow don't have to reinstall the game then after the system is powered down and then back up again?
