" Crossbows are usually slow to reload but due the the higher energy stored in them and the difference in projectiles they do more damage. So a crossbow could be the strength based ranged weapon. Instead off adding damage strength could add attack speed, since with more strength you could reload it faster. Bird lover of Wraeclast

" The main advantage to crossbows (which wouldn't even factor into an ARPG like POE) is that it's far easier to train someone to use a crossbow than, say, a longbow, which requires much more training and practice, along with a level of fitness not required by a crossbow (which makes longbows the best candidate for a strength-based, long-range missile weapon). A crossbow is designed to take advantage of mechanical enhancements to strength when drawing it, whereas a longbow is all muscle. =^[.]^= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/

" Though, ironically, bows would make more sense as a Str weapon because more physical strength means you can use a higher draw weight bow. While crossbows are literally designed to be less physically demanding (Outside of loading the thing... But that's why Stirrups and Crank Cockers were invented, to make it easier for someone to reload) But that's not how the fantasy trope plays out so whatever ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ As far as damage goes, it all depends on draw weight vs draw length. Crossbows tend to have WAY more draw weight, but have much less draw length. While bows are the other way around, less weight but more length. So long as you get the right balance, either one can be the most "Damaging" (Though, it's much easier to learn to aim a crossbow to HIT a target reliably than it is to learn to aim a bow, especially a higher draw weight one which will but a lot of strain on your arms) Last edited by Tarille#6639 on Jun 14, 2017, 2:58:02 AM
