[3.6] Milky's Scorching Ray Totems (updating process)

yeah sunder is so strong it doesnt even need dmg nodes :p

Its actually not a bad idea to skill the marauder dmg nodes first and ignore the lifepath at the beginning, level with sunder until 31-41 and respecc those nodes. Can make the level process in the early game much smoother

I just equipped a bright beak on my RF_totem char (in beta). Holy moly what a difference it made in clear speed. The shield charge is very smooth with brightbeak + faster attacks + 9% attackspeed from tree. I think with the buff to burning support gem and dmg on pyre rings that gimping your weapon with 0 dmg is actually not too bad. The dmg of RF is great. How quick you move, especially when you have 3 totems, has great impact on clear speed.

Have you tested to invest in cast speed to reduce the delay of casting RF for the totems?

If the links are there, some jewels and gear the weapon dmg isnt really important for those strands ;)

For tough bosses you wanna squeeze everything out of the dps, but once its enough brightbeak is a good choice!

Its possible to grab some castspeed on the skilltree, especially those hybrid dmg/castspeed nodes in the totem/fire clusters and totemic zeal. I play mostly around the casttime via moving in the next pack and letting the totem activate in the meantime ;)

The casttime via castspeed doesnt reduce that great, but a 20% faster casting gem is maybe a good choice for those strands in a 6link

In my setup i got a casttime of 1.3sec, a lvl 20 20% faster casting (49%) would reduce it to 0.9sec which does nothing for bosses and is for me personally not a big enough difference to use.

If you don't care about leveling gems in the alternate weapon swap, having a clearing oriented weapon set and using your alternate weapon set for bosses could be very solid. You could use a clearing weapon (like Brightbeak) and a shield in your main weapon set, and something like a Doryani's and another shield in the second (or even dual-wielding) for bosses.

Even for the lazy who object to gem swapping manually, pressing X should be pretty easy.
I would just swap the whole weapon, brightbeak seems fine for <=t15 and for t16 i would just use doryanis :P

The next time i play a new rft char i will toy around with brightbeak a bit more. Seems very reasonable since the damage isn't needed that often.

However a weaponswap is also very good, but i got only one cool shield mtx which is a HUGE downside ;)

Hello Milkyslice!

Im kinda looking some chieftan build for the 3.0 start. Your rf build looks good and solid, but can u tell is it possible to make something similiar with Incenirate (50% more damage with hits and ailments in beta), looks like im bad and my numbers in pob are really bad.
Would be greatefull for your help!

It is, but would be completely different and most likely more expensive. Personally i wouldnt like it because the clearspeed would be most likely worse.

RF gem levels are since 2.6 important because the radius increases every 4 gemlevels.

Spelltotem levels are important for more health of those.
