I don't think the cutoff is independent survival or any other particular developmental milestone. Instead, I think of how quickly a pregnant woman can realize they are pregnant and schedule appointments to investigate and perform an abortion. I think it's clear that there are numerous developmental milestones at all stages of pregnancy, and that the longer the unborn remains in utero, the more of these milestones are achieved. Instead of drawing a line in the sand at any particular milestone, arbitrarily defining human life at that point in development, the idea is to give women the minimum reasonable time to abort, thus minimizing the development prior to abortion. Could be as little as 8 weeks, but I think 12 is more reasonable.

I think there should be some type of test to see if a baby has autism, that way parents can make an educated decision as to whether they wish to abort or not.

" I saw a mother dragging around an 8 year old autistic kid in Walmart the other day, he was making weird noises of a variety of different pitches, and grunts, and slapping his hands around everywhere. That kid was demonstratably on the severe end of the spectrum, and that's cruel and unusual punishment for the mother. Worse than any medieval torture device. People should be able to make an informed decision to abort if their kid is going to be like that. The woman in question wasn't bad looking either, but the fact is no guy is going to want anything to do with her as long as she's raising an autistic kid. Anything beyond a 1 night stand. The fetus has only that much chance of survival with intense medical care and neonatal technology. Without that medical care, the fetus chance of survival drop significantly. |
