[3.0] Windz's Magma Orb Sire of Shard Elementalist Mapper (3.0 WIP)
Thanks for the guide Windz. I've been following your stream for a while and really enjoyed watching the mechanics of this build in play. The main thing I liked about it is that it looked like fun, and after playing PoE for a while and it starting to feel like a drudgery of work, this was exactly the antidote I needed!
I crossed over from a lack-lustre Vaal Fireball build (never used some many respec orbs in my life) and am still building up the character. For those that are still in progress perhaps some of my notes and mistakes will assist others. 1. Inspired Learning. Unlike the changes to most other Jewels in this patch, the four notables actually have to be allocated just like in the good ol' days. Took me ages to realise why I didn't seem to be stealing mods. Yes, I'm a bit dense sometimes (after all, it's clearly written on the Jewel). Once you get two of these working though.... fun! 2. Bosses suck early on and caused a lot of my deaths. Any boss that is likely to stun you, I've just avoided. One big advantage you can use though is to swap out Faster Projectiles with Slower Projectiles for boss killing. Stand right in front of them and just hold that button down. If you can keep them stunned, then they just go down. 3. If you're rocking a five link on your staff throw in Vaal Lightning Trap for bosses and annoying things like Warbands or Rogue Exiles. It benefits from the additional projectiles and the increased projectile damage. 4. Alternate boots: I'm using Brinerot Whalers and have been for some time. Decent ES, ignore shocking ground, decent move speed and increased Projectile Damage. They're not BIS but they do a good job. 5. Bisco's Collar. Oh yeah, MF is back and it's glorious! Actually this is the main thing I'm loving about this build. It actually feels like I'm finding a reasonable level of currency and loot. I'm not swimming in riches, but I'm not hoarding damned Transmute Orbs because that's all I'm finding. ARK drop rates still suck mightily however. 6. Silence. This shit will kill you quickly. I definitely support Windz' suggestion to get a Jewel with this immunity on it. Right now I'm using a flask instead. Or running away a lot. 7. Flasks. This is my next major series of upgrades and where I'm lacking the most. The ones for the build are expensive, but they're obviously worth it and especially as we take the Alchemist notable. 8. Ascendancies. I've gone with Liege of the Primordial before Paragon of Calamity. Mainly because I like to live dangerously, but mostly because till now I've hardly run into Elemental Reflect rares or done sufficient damage for it to be a problem. Now that I have Paragon of Calamity though I may live to regret that. Err... die and regret that? 9. Breaches. Tempting bursts of loot and experience, but if you don't have a way to avoid stuns then you're best to avoid them. I've died too many times to being shocked by Esh and just jangling there while my ES depletes. Nasty. Anyway, I've rambled for way too long but I can't thank you enough for the build and the entertaining stream. I feel like I've just recently turned a corner with the build and that so much more fun is just ahead of me! |

" Hey there! Thank you for the feedback! Brinerot is legit BIS for damage if you dont want utility boots like skyforth/deathsdoor. Silence jewel is very useful or run a kiaras for stun/curse immune flask |

Hey windz currently lvling this build i have almost everry item exact same rdy im just wondering how do u sustain life is do u just pop flasks for leech or should i be picking up a node with life leech

Im interesed from your build , but how you deal with stuns ?

why do you respec out of VP in your current tree?

" there are no leech nodes for casters. Use vinktars/atziris promise/warlords mark/life leech gem " Usually steal buffs from monster that includes unwavering stance making you immune to stun. However, you can use boot enchant/valyrium/eye of cha/kiaras " legacy vinktars give me instant leech so I can use those points to grab other parts of the tree Last edited by windz#1002 on May 25, 2017, 7:14:23 PM

Hey windz, Fellow viewer here, just had a quick question how do you kill map bosses on like strand, PP and so on. I can kill trash mobs really fast but when i get to the boss or a few beyond mobs at one time i sometimes die but also feel like i do not have the damage.
Thnak you. |

" Usually the buffs from inspired learning carries over. Use vinktars and shock them or drop mf gem for dps until you have enough damage. Maybe gem lvls/skill points are lacking atm |

Hey Windz, love your streams, as a new player, I find them very helpful and informative. I make sure to tune in whenever I can.
Now into my question, I feel like I am not doing enough damage and I also find my ES going below 40% a lot. I wanted to get your opinion on my character before buying anymore stuff. What should I prioritize? Gems, jewels, levels, change some items, merc/uberlab, flasks? There's just so many things to do and I don't know what would be best to do for now. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, have a nice day :) |

" Hey thanks for tuning in whenever you can! Looks like your character could usd a lot of work. First grab a vinktars (dmg added to spell) and use "of shocking" flask like diamond flask of shocking. If vinktars is out of your budget then get atziris promise and use cwdt + warlords mark (both low lvl) Only need 1 quick silver flask but try to get one with of adrenaline. Make sure you have vaal pact if you have not (cant see tree on mobile). Merc lab points give you double golem and big dmg boost. Uber will give u reduced reflect dmg. Grab 2 inspired learning and make sure the 4 notables are allocated (probably need more lvls) Try to get a cheap lvl 3 empower and more es resist gears lastly. Brinerot whalers are good 200es dmgres boots or deaths door. |
