We need some wind based spells.

a wind based spell would be a good way to do physical damage without resorting to more "magical knives" spells.

is i were to make a wind skill i would want todo a kind of "building storm" thing

my particular idea:

channeled skill

you unleash a gist of wind in a given direction. as you continue to cast, you spawn increasing number of small tornadoes which move erratically in the cast direction. AS the storm builds, the spell gains additional lighting damage

deals x-x physical damgae
spawns 0-4 additional tornadoes, increasing with channel time
spell deals (x-x) to (y-y) addiional lightning damage, increasing with channel time
There is a big difference between flavouring an ability with something and making a new damage type.
This thread is about the former.

I support the idea of having a couple more physical damage spells, or interesting crowd controls.
I've been vaguely thinking about a Wind Golem.
Could place it at equal requirements of Str, Dex and Int.
Give it abilities that hinder and disrupt enemies, more than doing damage.
It could give the user some extra hit and spell dodge chance.
I'm kind of hesitant to add in more physical spells simply because it will disproportionally be more effective against pure evasion builds than ES or Armor builds.
Arctic armour!

Wind - physical damage over time! (armour doesn't apply)
I am the light of the morning and the shadow on the wall, I am nothing and I am all.

compared to other games i've played, wind themed spells doing physical or lightning damage depending on the spell usually fits. Heck depending on how you do it, chaos damage can be worked into wind theme as well.

And pure movement spells, wind can be fast afterall. Downside is most ideas of the top of my head already have an equivalent (Phase run, for one) as not like a person can stop the wind, so phasing through enemies heh. But that then goes into more like transactions to change the look (which would be cool)
Wow! I see many of you have issues with what kind of damage type these "new spells" do.
Ever heard of compressed air? If you apply a highly compressed gaseous substance to a very small surface it can pierce it, which is physical damage. Also when this happens first you feel cold, then as the friction builds up you start to feel an intense heat as the air pierces trough your skin, trough the flesh and breaking the bones...

So basically depending on the type of spell it could be physical combined with one or multiple elemental damage.

@Peterlerock: I played sacred too. That game was fun and ridiculously easy. After I figured out what skills to increase and which item is best for specific classes it was a walk in the park. I mean it was kind of straightforward but not always.
I always started on silver after I mastered the game play, because bronze felt so easy. After a certain level you were practically immortal. The people who still died playing that game after playing it for a month must have been either not playing attention or dumb, because you would have to work hard to die in that game. I still have that game and I have high level characters that never died, not once.
I don't even know what would the people who manage to die in that game say to PoE. They would most probably cry themselves to sleep after the Brutus fight on normal! XD

As a mage I was always a fireball type of guy, although in most games I rather play a lightning mage or wizard. But in that game you were able to push down the cast time of fireball to 0,3-0,4s. And it was a very effective weapon. I mean you could level it until level 214. That is the highest player and skill level in that game.

Seems simple enough to me: it does projectile damage (ie: debris in a tornado), and wind skills would always have some sort of knockback included, with a select few having a percentage to blind.
