[solved] got vdsl 50mbit - strange kind of "latency freezes"

i am having similar issues, and i checked everything and done almost nothing. Because there are so many things to check. I am not a tech guy to deal with all those things and i am not dealing with those things on other games.

I thing GGG should take a serious look for all those errors and must work out most of them. If there were only a few things to check i would check them and make them but since there is a lot i think a player shouldnt have to deal with this. i am looking at you GGG, this issue is more important than anything. i would take Price Fix issues, double dip issues, one shot issues etc. over this anytime.

If these problems wouldnt occur i would play with a 3k life build and would clear most of the content just by dodging attacks, but since you cant trust your dodging skills with this issue and game is accualy build to use such player skills, game becomes tasteless for us. So thats why people whining about 1 shot kills or death penalties etc.

You know why tech support section exists? Because there are millions of different hardware/software configurations, unless you see pages and pages and countless topics of same issue being described - chances are the fault is on your end. I think you should think less, clearly it's not working out for you.

First off the following is in my situation and every situation is different, but i hope it helps.

I have 2x Fritz 7490 ( different i know ) and vdsl2 @ 50 or 30 ish and am running on i7 6700k/16/ssd/970 + 8120/32/ssd/970 and an imac5k/i5/m390 and can more or less replicate your situation on demand depending on how i set up the fritz's.

First off dont play POE on that imac it is horrid and unsupported ( it is rage inducing )

I can truthfully say over the years i have tested the hell out of every combination of hardware/software etc and even 3rd party known good routers the fritz box's have also been tested at a 2nd site(all good).

I switch regularly between 2 vdsl setups on the fritz's

The only common factor was the fritz! router if i was using a non default setup.

1 ISP provided and unmodified router config.
locked down
33/8 ish
40 ms ish ingame

2 Edited config. unsupported, isp and fritz
55/9 ish
60 ms ish ingame

I use the 2nd option because 55 is better that 33 and just live with it.

1 is rock solid for EVERYTHING including POE unless someone is using netflix, any and all other abuses of the connection plays well with POE.

2 is more or less 100% guaranteed to have issues every few min no matter what, even with no other obvious traffic.

In my case i can put the issue down to me messing/tweaking my settings in an abusive and unsupported way.

My only recommendation/thought is to set your options under internet > DSL Information > Line settings to Maximum Stability and/or try a different router.

Then call you ISP and ask for a vdsl port reset. ( or what ever they call it )

I wouldn't put this down as a ggg issue at all more an obscure annoying client end one.

It could also be a million other things also :/

* i've already tested the "Maximum Stability" setting on my fritzbox
* i couldn't get my hands on another box but i'll see what i can do
* i'm currently trying different realms and i'm running WinMTR to this locations

My overall average to milan is Ok but i'm having some spikes to 130-140ms. Still having that freeze/login screen problem ingame.

I could use the fritzbox as modem and for router stuff an pcengines apu2c4 board with opnsense. Maybe i try that just to rule out the fritzbox.

Still the same shit. Doesn't matter on which realm i play. Getting this disconnects still. No answer from GGG.

Everyone tested their connection ,same as me .
Other online games work perfect , i have 52 stable ping in Dota 2 with no spikes ,
didnt disconected once in months,how come only POE has server spikes?
And your telling me dont put it on GGG?
Servers are damn bad since close beta and only getting worse.

its not on my end. there are pages of same topics with same issues. also i dont have any problem with any other game or website. this game has shit performance. they need to maintain their servers and put more servers to handle capacity. then, optimaze game more, they are going for china and xbox but i dont see the possiblity of they are handling more players with current state of game. They will just keep losing players.
This was first game for me to have such problems.(if i dont count the times i play UO, but that times i know my connection was shit because internet was new on our country. Just because you dont have the problem doesnt means there is no problem on GGG's end. You are just another idiot who thinks to know more than an almost 20 years of online gamer.

I enabled "use previous dsl version" (Vorherige DSL-Version verwenden) on my fritzbox, i did 5 maps on amsterdam without disconnect. As i understood it uses an older fritbox software to connect. I still had 3x the effect that i was unable to move and the actions taken meanwhile where repeated after ~3seconds. But no disconnects.

I'll test further.

Ok, first things first... everyone who posts a "me too" reply, please start a new thread instead. You're not helping the OP resolve his issue, and instead making things worse by leading him and others to assume this is some common issue for users. Technical Support forum is for troubleshooting, not reporting bugs or posting feedback to GGG.

Second: OP, because of your recent ISP connection speed switch, you're assuming this issue is due to that. It could be bad timing and a coincidence instead. Also, because you know a fair amount about connectivity, you're troubleshooting from that viewpoint. But nothing we see in the WinMTR indicates any issue, so time to move on from blaming your ISP or GGG's servers. And on that note, dropped packets from an access point or the servers could just be due to packet prioritization (not responding to every ping request, but transferring real data just fine).

I don't think its bad timing. Its most certainly due to provider switch. Don't get me wrong i appreciate all help but i played guite a _lot_ during legacy with my old provider where i didn't have any issues. I even played the weekend before the switch.

I'm running my fritzbox on "previous dsl version" and "maximum stablity" now. I did ~10 maps and got disconnected _once_. Where in case i normaly don't run 3 maps without disconnect. One thing i noticed due to all 10 maps i played on Frankfurt is that i have 20ms ping and on the intance i got kicked i had 32ms ping (also on Frankfurt). Next map was fine with 20ms again.

On a side note: why do i get connected to Frankfurt realm when i choose paris?

Edit: Just happend 4 times on one map and now i got disconnected standing in my HO.
Last time i've seen such packet drops from a network device it was a crappy IPS.
