Redo Helmet Enchants or offer more general helm enchants
I know a lot of people get great lab enchants for helms. However, there is something to keep in mind: How often is your helm enchant actually useful? More often that not (29/30), I get stuck with some enchant involving spells when I play melee. To me, there's not even a point in trying to enchant my own helm because there's at least a 75% chance, it's going to end up a dud. What's worse is that the enchant will literally not be of any help. I've gotten enchants that don't quite match up in gloves and boots, but I can guarantee that they at least did something.
Anyway, my solution to this problem would be to either replace the skill specific enchants or offer variant enchants that are more general. For example, do x-y% more damage. Gain y-z% increased es, evasion or armour. Gain 3 life on hit or x-y% more fire damage, y-% reduced mana reservation, x-y% increased chance of piercing. This way, with more general enchants, at least your helm will rarely be completely useless as far as lab enchants go. Last bumped on Apr 20, 2017, 3:45:45 PM

So, make it less interesting so that it will be more accessible ?
And by offering more general enchant ( that would spawn often enough to you I guess ), it would make it way harder to obtain skill specific enchant, which are already damn hard to get :/. Anyway, I don't see GGG changing the enchanting system this drasticly ever, they probably won't change it at all so ... SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

i like the ultra-specific nature of helm enchants as it is now. It's obviously not for SSF players. But the game isn't meant to be balanced around SSF, and is meant to be balanced around trading.
My only complaint is that with the dominant ES meta, it's damned near impossible to find an enchanted helm that isn't a hubris circlet. for all mirror items check The Forbidden Trove:

well I'm looking for these in standard, so unless you play there or feel like selling after league merge then no point. I am trying to get a lion pelt with 9% flicker strike damage per frenzy charge, and a deicide mask with +2 fire nova mine repetitions. Both ilvl84+ ofc. And yeah I'd gladly pay 2ex for either.

I do play in Standard, actually! With my perverse love of the Lab, I actually did have one other taker for my "enchant service," although he wanted Boots and not Helm so I could actually guarantee him his Enchant. I'm supposed to do Gloves for him too, but he needed Rare gloves done and I never seemed to catch him online so that deal has kind of slid through... unless this post reminds him to poke me every now and then to see if I'm online :P he knows who he is!
I'll PM you if I ever get ahold of one of those. Need game info? Check out the Wiki at: https://www.poewiki.net/

The helmet enchants are very inconsistent when compared to their glove and boot counterparts. I get this is an ARPG and its grindy by its nature but it could have been better. Even if I have to run 15 or so lab runs, I can usually get the one enchant im looking for. But run over 200 labs for head slot, and you get nothing but garbage.
Farming for it is near impossible and if lab farmers aren't enchanting bases that go with your build, your screwed. It's mind boggling how people defend this system. Lets not forget the balance of the skill enchants themselves, much like the rest of the game.. its pretty bad. Some skills get some amazing enchants like EQ and Barrage, most of the skills however don't have anything worth fighting for. You shouldn't have to wait for the next meta shift to be able to participate in this system. It's not even interesting when it comes to farming it because its so easy to load up on hubris circlets... its not like they are expensive. So you just keep throwing enchants on and posting them up if they are half decent ones. I made a thread like this and Adghar offered the same thing (Very generous). But that can't be the solution. This one person is not going to be able to supply the off meta head slot enchants for everyone. Nothing in the rest of the game is like this. I suck at the game and cant killed uber atziri... well then someone else will and I can trade for it.. can't get a starforge, no biggie... someone is bound to get one killing shaper. But a specific enchant on a specific base is the only thing in the game you can't always trade for. There has to be a solution to this other then waiting for the community to change to a new meta. " Like what ? Some skills are not popular at all, so no wonder people don't deem their enchantements worth anything ... Those enchants are the icing on the cake. It's like everything else, if you are following the meta, it's easier to get because there is more availability ( well that is true for rare, less for uniques since those become cheaper, same for high quality gems ). Only it's even more. Farm the lab for the rewards that it gives you, if you get a good helm echant .... good for you, if you don't ... well don't make that your primary goal, or expect or really high amount of runs. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

" Most of the enchants give you something that you can easily get somewhere in the tree or on gear.Earthquake duration, barrage getting projectiles, arc getting additional chains, chance to animate additional weapon, blast rain additional blast, detonate dead having a chance to double its effect, fire nova mine repeats, and the list goes on for a bunch more. These kind of enchants are desirable and add in a lot of hidden power for your builds. But then on opposite spectrum, most of the skills just give generic Damage, Attack Speed, Crit Chance, AoE.. these are things you will already have plenty of in your build, and these are just icing on the cake. It's a primary goal of most people playing these kind of games to play unique and fun builds and push the power of those builds as far as you can. The rest of the game, if I am unlucky and don't get things to drop, or I don't get my 5-6links. I can grind it out and trade for it. This is the one thing that is near impossible atm since we are in the deep ES meta. People shouldn't have to wait months to maybe years for a meta shift to be able to start getting something out of it. |

Ok, I see what you mean now.
There are couple of enchantments that might be over the others in term of power provided then. I still see those as icing on the cake as it's basically pure powercreep at the end, but they might be too good. ( but still, 40% inc damage is no small thing ). SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading. Last edited by Fruz#6137 on Apr 20, 2017, 2:40:27 AM
