Yo Rico, how worth it is blade vortex for proccing extra charges? And also thoughts on Arc vs. AoE/ConC?

Finalizing my mjolner build now and I basically have to drop either blade vortex on cwdt (no increased duration) or lose ~180 life.

Cwdt-bv will be worth it of you have those new unique boots (inyas), otherwise you can drop it. You may also consider adding new unique belt that will work extremely good with this build - the flow unthethered. Thats +1 endurance charge (if corrupted correctly) but most importantly - 5 discharges per sec instead of 4. Together with inyas boots those 2 new unique items might turn this build into very "end-game cappable" once again. Im definitely gonna try it.

Im back from my summer travel and Im starting to lvl marauder in the challenge league :)

Thanks for the update.

Yeah, I've been playing a lot of Jugg mjolner so far after selling off my pure phys cycloner (that build was too ez, too powerful) and it's been a lot of fun. Using both inya's and the flow untethered, paired with repentance and devoto's. Because I'm running so many uniques, I'm using 3 purity auras with an enlighten to cover my resists.

Up to around ~84% cold/light res (max) and higher fire. Managed to snag a +1 resistance voll's, so with some life regen in my tree and stone golem I'm able to just keep righteous fire on while mapping on any map that doesn't have life regeneration or res penalties and I can still use safell's frame over rise of the phoenix. Feels pretty good.

Just grinding for level 8 zana and levels right now, I'll probably try more guardians and eventually shaper soon, but the few guardians I've done have went pretty smoothly. My one gripe so far is I wish I had a bit more life but that will come with levels (I skimped a bit on life to get life regen for righteous fire and also just optimize my stats around running so many uniques).

Still can't decide which setup I like for mapping between arc + controlled destruction + discharge vs. just conc. effect + controlled destruction + discharge. The advantage of the latter is you can kind of just shield charge around everywhere and that will kill everything albeit in a small AoE, whereas the former you do have to actually stop and cyclone to trigger a couple arcs and discharges but you cover more ground.

Character I'm playing is ANBODINROK if you have any tips/suggestions or just want to see what I'm doing with my jugg :). Thanks as always for your experienced mjolner guidance, also got a lot of tips from one of the guys on the ladder playing a mjolner jugg, big shoutouts to him (FREEDOM_DELIVERY_AGENT).

One last thing that popped into my mind - What are your thoughts on 40% inc discharge damage enchant vs. 30% chance to not consume enchant? The latter I know is generally preferred, but I feel the former might be better on jugg because you're usually jumping to max charges anyway on both power and endurance? And still limited by mjolner icd. Also the counter-synergy with wanting to expend endurance charges for King's Guard. Would love to hear your thoughts on which particular enchant is better for Jugg specifically.

Also a bit conflicted on fire leech mjolner vs. +2 range mjolner. I love both lol. Had a lightning leech but gave it to my buddy who is playing pathfinder mjolner because I feel fire leech is better for us jugg's anyway.

tldr: Struggling with some optimization decisions w/ respect to enchants and corruptions, namely - 40% increased discharge damage versus 30% chance to not consume enchants? Also, attack speed vs. life regen vs. ele pen boot enchant? And lastly, fire leech mjolner vs. +2 weapon range mjolner?

Unyielding vs. Unstoppable is also a very tough decision w/ respect to Ascendancy lol. I love Unstoppable, but feel like Unyielding is quite a bit of extra damage, survivability, and a nice extra layer of regen for RF.

I would go with 40% inc discharge dmg with Jugg. Chance to not consume charges is a chance to not heal with kingsguard which is unwelcome under heavy load.

Mjolner with fire leech is better than range one. You dont need additional range while additional Health recovery is always welcome, especialy under rf which brings us to the last issue: take unyelding - its better for both offence and defence (and for rf).

Im still in the lvling/gathering gear process but I think I should be ready with the final build somewhere near wednesday.

So give me an early leak rico hehe, out of the three 2 point ascendancy investment nodes - Unyielding, Unbreakable, and Unstoppable, which 2 are you planning to take?

One of the toughest decisions for me since they are all good. Undeniable, while often skipped in these builds in the past is just a boat load of attack speed, brings up your accuracy from 90% to 94-95% and attack speed feels more crucial than ever for both clear speed (shield charge) and also charge generation now that we are discharging every ~0.2s and have the new boots which we wanna proc as much as possible.

Unstoppable of course is like the best QoL point in the game lol, just ignore temp chains and 14% extra MS. Unfortunately, I think this is the most likely on the chopping block for me because while it's so massive QoL, it's not really the same raw damage or survivability boost that the other 2 bring (outside of temp chains maps which are frequent).

Unyielding is probably the best in terms of combining both damage and survivability, but sometimes feels non-essential as the build is already super tanky. Just an extra layer though and allows RF to just run with even less thought.

Such a difficult choice... :(.

On an extra little note I've noticed some people trying to include firestorm somewhere (cwdt for a build like this) for extra charge generation, but I feel that unreliably screws up elemental equilibrium too hard, but I'm not 100% on this.

Hey Rico, love your Mjolner threads. They're a great source of information. I've done a LL Mjolner in the past but with ES being crap I decided to check back here. I prefer the Jug route as opposed to berserker that's been popular.

I just got to mid 60s and have been using your PoB paste as a guideline since this Jug stuff is so new to me. I'm definitely interested to see how your final build ends up. You still sticking with MS/LS as attacks? I really don't like the feel of cyclone myself though it kind of sucks losing out on EE by not using it.

For anyone else interested since I know it's not common I leveled from 20-60 with RF. Ridiculously fast with minimal respec needed. Simply run from one objective to the next as all the things die. Meginord's Vise allowed me to put on Mjolner at 60 and the fun started.

Thanks again for the wealth of info and sharing your builds!
Any reason to NOT go Berserker? Isn't the damage with jugg just bad now when it comes to shaper/guardians?
Decided to go with a scold's bridle to get even more endurance charges through unflinching.

On another note I'm having a terrible time getting resists balanced with the new belt and boots. That leaves only 1 non unique slot.
Yeah, I use triple purity auras to cap out resists. Scold's sounds pretty sick but I love blood magic too much. Maybe should buy one to enchant though and if I ever get a decent enchant; test it out a bit. Probably need a mana reservation enchant honestly, to pull off triple purity.

Many reasons. I did almost any Mjolner build possible from patches before 2.0 up to now. I had several Berserkers. While Berserker with Kaoms chest and cyclone with EE is a solid build I personally see it a bit differently. With any Berserker you must take its hp pool (be it 6k life or more) and take 10% away from it due to the Aspect of Carnage. It increases any dmg taken after all the mitigation by a 10% making effectively 0.9x factor to your hp pool. Berserker with 6.5k becomes a Berserker with a 5.6k life pool. Most likely with little to non physical dmg mitigation. Fortify, Enfeeble and thats all in terms of phys dmg mitigation. Elemental dmg mitigation also wont go as high if you dont use lvl 21 puritys with either empower or Alphas Howl to make them lvl 23 for that base 5% to max. Which is than boosted further with proper % of aura effectiveness. So you end up with a Berserker with ~ 5.6 effective life pool, with little to non phys dmg mitiagion and lower max elemental resistances vs Juggernaut with ~ 5.3 hp pool, higher maximum resistances and MUCH higher physical dmg mitigation. In the end: they are comparable in terms of elemental dmg mitigation but Berserker doesnt come even close in terms of phys dmg mitigation.

In terms of DPS im also going to use Cyclone with EE chain. I was using that and theorycrafting around that in my CoC CI Discharge buil back in the 2.2 and I believe I was the first one to actually do it in a Mjolner build (my old build that was updated to 2.6 later on). This combination (EE chain with Cyclone) is currently (and sadly) the most effective way to deal with heavy ele resistances bosses like Shaper/Guardians.

In my current Path of Building blueprint for 3.0 I have now 150k calculated per single Discharge vs Shape/Guardian with Fortify up, Atziri flask up, shock status (with VoV up), EE active, RF active and 5/8 charges up.

Without shock its still 100k, without Atziri flask its 93k. And we have now 5 Discharges /s. So thats 750 - 465k DPS vs Shaper/Guardian depending on flask usage. However numbers are numbers. It is more important how the build will perform in game.

Speaking of that, there're 2 more advantages with Jugg over Berserker. Firstly maximum number of charges. Those are sustainable more frequently with a Jugg than with Berserker. 25% for max power charges from Inyas boots for both, but than 25% for max endu charges for Jugg from Unrelenting. Secondly - healing. With endurance charges reaching its maximum numbers (or close to maximum thanks to Inyas boots -> Romiras -> Discharge -> Volls Devo) frequently healing via Kingsguard mechanics is extremely good (place 5 Discharges /s on top of that). You dont need to take savage hit to heal up to max very fast. But most importantly - leeching is dependent on dmg done to target while healing with Kingsguard is not. This means that targets that tends to switch into "cannot be damaged" mode are a problem for a life leeching character while with Kingsguard you can just continue to facetank them.

I hope I anserwed your question speaking from my own experience with Mjolner builds.

Thx mate. Much appreciated. I lvled with Sunder and some crap unique maces, switched around lvl 50 to physical, crit BFlurry with some crap unique/rare daggers, reached lvl 66 easily than switched to Mjolner gear.

Personally im still in the decision making process for a proper helmet for this build. Scolds is a nice DPS option, with Alphas i like cannot be frozen, +2 to auras and 8% reduced reservation. However with all those unique items on the build right now (only rare is a one ring lol) Im thinkig about solid rare helmet to cover up resistances and boost life further at the cost of +1-2% to max resistances and cannot be frozen.
