Why there is no PTR-server?

Test server where all characters level 100 and have infinite currency? There you can easily test brand new builds/skills/new mechanics.
So why there is no test server?

there is, it's called "standard league". muhaha

edit: also here. that wasn't me, seriously!

U cant respec your skills whenever you want it (it costs regret's or when new patch)
And ok, how to test new builds in new patches?? Making new heroes to test theorycraft builds... Meh..
Why cant i just test it, before i will go in basic game? What wrong in infinite currency and infinite items in server, where all players have infinite currency?
It also can be TIME limited. So you can test brand new build for 2 hours, and server are closed for you on 1week or more. How about that?
When you choose new build, or trying to make your theorycraft build you can't be sure that this build would be working.
And sorry for my english, if i made few mistakes.

I feel this game might not be for you.

Chris mentioned many times it is their goal that you can make small changes to your build any time you want with regret orbs (and even 24 or so respec points you get from normal playthrough), but if you want to make a whole new character you need to level it up again.

There's many guides online now that show you can get to level 70 in 6 or so hours and it's not very complicated either.

And I agree with the fact that if you played endgame builds even to test them, you would get bored very quickly and burnout and simply quit the game.

GGG made it very clear the direction they want to take is this game isn't for casual players who want to get endgame content in 10 hours with any given character.

And theory-crafting isn't something where you make a ridiculous build that has no meaning at all and expect it to do all content. You can find youtube videos of the streamers who show their thought process on theorycrafting and preparing new characters and what they expect from them.

All in all, once you get enough hours in the game, you will start to see what works and what doesn't, that different characters have different endgame goals and that the playing is the thing that matters and the journey, not the end where you test your character for 2 hours and then make a new one.
Reality is an illusion, Exile.

you got 24 char slots, after you played temp leagues for a while you probably got plenty of chars in permanent league which are eligible for a skill tree reset.

apart from that, feeling powerful should be an achievement, not an option.

I just tested my planned legacy build on an old standard char. It was not at level 100 and without GG gear but I won't have this in legacy either. Hence it was a much more useful test than a test with max level and perfect gear would have been.
I spent less than 5c for a few master crafts and 4l+ coloring some stuff I had in my stash. Respect was free because char was from before breach league. Expensive equipment I could just reuse what I had in stash.
So playtesting on standard works perfectly fine and gives you better information than a PTR-server would. Only requirement is that you have been around for more than one league. If not you will have to pay for the respect, so cost goes up to 100 regrets or so.

then you play the game, thats what it is, its a game you play.

Youre asking to take 1000s of hours of play time, and throw it out the window so you can jump all the way to the end of it. This is why diablo 3 is a terrible game. Play for 2 days and you have all the sets, and you can just respec your characters to whatever you want whenever you want for no cost, and then you play it for 5 days theres nothing left to do and the game is dead. This game has been going for 4 years and the amount of us who can just test whatever we want whenever we want are probably a 0.000001% minority, thats why the game has lasted 4 years, theres always still something left to do and try out.

Releasing a sandbox for this game would kill it. They dont even want you to know what a maxed out character feels like for 2 hours because it would ruin your expectations, if you want to get to that place you have to earn it in game, appreciate what it takes to get there. Thats what gives it meaning, its not a trivial thing thats handed out to anyone who wants it.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
