The backwards nature of no currency microtransactions
" trading: game time -> game time rmt: real life work time -> game time you think GGG's founding philosophy was just arbitrarily stupid? Need game info? Check out the Wiki at: https://www.poewiki.net/

" RMAH/AH was removed because people asked for it. Every time trading is brought up on the forum, those posts are downvoted into the ground. That's because the vast majority of the playerbase prefers finding their own shit. RMAH/AH benefited a small minority while fucking up the gameplay for the rest. |

" I don't think anyone is stupid I just have a different opinion. I'm pure capitalist and everything should have RM price. Game or not. I play by rules GGG set forth but would much prefer capitalism. Git R Dun! Last edited by Aim_Deep#3474 on Feb 28, 2017, 3:32:44 PM

" This is not correct. Legality aside, currency sold by third party sites are obtained through the game by some means. Even if they are bots, there is something out there playing the game and generating currency that way - hence they still follow the rarity rules of game itself. If GGG introduced an influx of currency that is not generated in-game, this ratio would be completely broken since it's likely that people busting out credit cards would focus mostly on buying currency that is more frequently used for trading and/or have favorable cost relative to the drop rates. This would have a massive impact on the economy - likely meaning that trading prices for items would shoot through the roof to the point where people who don't RMT are unable to obtain top end gear. |

pay to win games definitely work and people definitely spend a crap ton of money on them. all the mobile games like frickin clash of the titans and shit like that really come to mind.
i hope PoE doesn't turn into that, i really do, but i would absolutely understand if they did. i don't think they're in such financial crisis to attempt it however, also they care more about their actual game and community than they do just about pumping out something quick and easy to rake in the bucks. PoE is GGGs baby. it started super small and what its grown into is extremely respectful and a monumental achievement. the pride they have in this game alone means it will never turn into a cash shop bullshit model |

Wait so, because there are a few people that might get away with a bit of RMT on the side, and are clever enough to not get caught, we should just destroy all the integrity that GGG has shown us? You realize that if this happened literally any non SSF competitive player would straight leave instantly? How would this be better than it being bannable and not directly available legally?
You are complaining about RMT, yet are you using it yourself? Have you gotten away with it? Have you even thought about trying it? Probably not, because you are risking your account if you're caught. Anyone who is actually healthy for the game as a whole won't do it out of fear for their account alone. |

" They never go PTW. Its like thier core philosophy. Thats all this thread is is a philosophical discussion going no where. But as you say there is tones of PTW games working just fine and thats my stance too. Git R Dun!

if poe went pay to win i'd probably still play, but ya the real issue with the p2w model games is
#1 it is not casual friendly. even if there are ways to play the game without spending money, you are not remotely competitive in gear, power, or anything in order to play the game at the same level. often times the time spent just really really isn't justified. #2 end game content is quite limited. there are usually tiers of things to be completed. if you're p2w theres usually only 2-3 things worth competing in, while if you're not p2w you're basically limited to 2-3 lower tier things with no hope of actually competing the hardest content. usually because the "end game" content has to be balanced around people with absolute most p2w stuff or else the game is just boring. #3 replayability issues. one of the main things which keeps people playing the game and logging time is because everybody is working towards min/max of their builds and gear. if you can just straight up buy it, then you'll use it for a week or two then get bored and move on. compare standard to fresh leagues. i have only played standard but its kinda boring to me unless i think of fresh builds and try them out and min/max them. i need to think of a new build every month or so or else i just find myself not playing the game, even though i haven't completed every bit of content. however fresh leagues rake in the population at least for the first month or two before people start hitting those walls. its fresh. things are usually never the same twice and you have to work towards something, which keeps you coming back. in standard most people have everything and then it feels like theres nothing to work towards, or at least remaining goals don't seem to justify the time they take to complete (like fully completing atlas for example) Last edited by xMustard#3403 on Feb 28, 2017, 4:10:36 PM

How do you know it's not GGG running RMT? Hmmm? ILvl 74 lightning coils flood in 2.0, Promoting mirror gate. That guild stash tab item dupe method from way back when. I think it is pretty obvius who is pulling the strings.
The real question is not if GGG runs every RMT site ever made but how high in the Illuminati chain of command is Cris? If for what ever reason you enjoyed my half a thousand posts in the account PrinceOfPuddles you should will find the same Elemental Hit lover on this account. Probation no longer closes shops so I have no fear to use my acualy acount instead of my alt. Also showing off my new supporter tags ~ _,~
