[2.6] CwC Firestorm AND Blade Vortex Obliteration All In One
|
Looks interesting. I have a couple of questions:
Are you rolling with 2 curses in your OoS even without Doedre's Damning? Why Wyrmsign? Where do you get the endurance charges from? Doesn't your boss DPS suffer without a Vaal Lightning Trap, Wither Totem, and/or Decoy Totem? Doesn't your map clearspeed suffer without Vaal Haste? Are the 4 purities necessary? Is it that hard to cap resistances? Is the 4link BV enough to clear comfortably fast? How's your Mana Mana-gement? (badum tss) Does the Ascendancy leech cover it? What bases do you think it's best to build gear on? You have a mix of Evasion, Armor, and ES. Wouldn't it be better to stick to all ES to get a larger EH pool or does ES prevent the Savage Hit trigger? My thoughts of combining the 2 builds was to build it as Frisk's Chaos Firestorm, and carry 2x Obliterations in weapon swap and a Cospri's Malice or Tabula for the BV setup and just swap before/after bosses. |

" The helm setup is just a template. I mentioned that you would only use one of the curses unless you needed both for some hard encounter, in which case you would use a Doedre's Damning. Wyrmsign boosts the damage of BV so that it is strong enough to function for its purpose of instantly blowing up packs while mapping. If you think you can use it without it, try it, though it felt like I needed it. You would get endurance charges if you used Enduring Cry, which is one possible setup with the build. You can also swap in Vaal Lightning Trap and Decoy Totem if needed, which was also mentioned. CWC using Wither produced better results in my experience than using a Wither totem. One of the strengths of this build is extreme flexibility, so you can swap a few abilities here and there as you go for various areas. I haven't experimented with Vaal Haste and the speed is getting nerfed, but if it's still worth it, swap it in and use it. I find 30% movespeed boots with a Quicksilver always up to be plenty fast, but if you want to add that in with Rampage from Wyrmsign, go for it. The purities are there for the option to use the one you need the max resist for the most, if at all; the increased resists from them are not needed since purity of elements alone would cap you on all resist on an Elemental Weakness map. They also provide one of each color slot, so you can use those slots to swap in other skills like Vaal gems or something. The 4-link BV can clear very fast because it is effectively a 5-link due to the conc. effect from Wyrmsign. Until you get a Cospri's Will, you would be slotting poison in a 6th slot, so it's effectively as strong as a 6 slot BV since you don't need the poison for weak enemies anyway. The ascendancy covers your mana issues no problem; I don't even have to think about it, especially because you typically only use one aura anyway to avoid the bonus damage from Infernal Mantle. You only get the 100% leech effect for life, so it must be a life based build. The extra 1-1.5k ES is just a bonus to survive one shots. Defenses don't really make much of a difference, because the build is based upon having a life pool just large enough to survive large hits and then instantly go to full from any of the frequent hits you deal. I had the same thought as you at first, but I realized this is a far more effective play style since it seamlessly lets you go back and forth with the press of a button, no need to fumble around swapping gems or gear every single time you start a map and then reach the boss, doing it over and over again for every map. BV only needs to barely be strong enough for maximum benefit because FS is better for bosses anyway. |

Thanks for your replies! I look forward to trying it out in Legacy!

Not much changed fundamentally with patch 2.6 for this build, but getting 100% chaos damage on Firestorm with two legacy Consuming Dark's is a massive increase in damage.

The covenant looks kind of cool for the zerker cwc firestorm builds now. It works out to be a little less damage from the loss of +1 gem level and the increased fire dmg, but you get a little more life back now. Effectively an 8 link chest with few wasted stats.

" The issue I would take with it is that added damage gets reduced to 30% of its value for Firestorm, which is almost the same damage increase as going from lvl 20 Firestorm to lvl 21, and you don't need blood magic. You would also lose the increased fire damage and the 10-15% (depending on 30% vs 45% Consuming Darks) chaos damage conversion, which is huge. The 10% life increase works out to equal around 70 flat life from gear for this build, which could be much higher on a magic chest if life were the focus, as well as 25% increased damage from Hidden Potential. The change to The Covenant seems awesome for a Blade Vortex build that reserves all of its mana for triple blasphemy curses or auras, but it would be a weak choice for Firestorm given the alternatives. A Tabula would cost around 10c, a 6-link white chest was around 30c, and getting an Infernal Mantle or Covenant would cost 5-10exa for a 6link, so I can't see a justification to use The Covenant at this point in time. |

True true, the new version of Incandescence Heart looks pretty nifty too.

" Yeah I just saw that, it might actually be better than Infernal Mantle now; I need to do some calculations. |
|
" Maybe you could compare in Path of Building |

Pre double legacy Consuming Darks, Infernal Mantle is better by a couple percentage points in FS chaos damage; post they are almost the same damage, leaning slightly in favor of Incandescent Heart by less than a percentage point. This means the real difference at end game comes down to getting to reserve two auras/curses and 80-90 life vs losing a tiny amount of resists in certain situations. When you would have 85% to an elemental resist with a flask and aura up, you'd really only have 82.5% because 25% of that damage taken gets taken as chaos damage, of which you would only resist 75%.
Depending on the price of a legacy Consuming Dark, you'll most likely use Infernal Mantle for most if not all of the time, but if you can get two, I would say Incandescent Heart is a marginally better choice in nearly all situations. |
