Thoughts on CI and how to fix life builds

CI is the current meta (again).

Over the next update or two, GGG will likely do their usual NERF IT TO THE GROUND SO IT DONT WALK NO MORE fix on CI.

I really think they should instead upgrade life, armour, eva so that it can be on par with CI currently is, rather than nerfing something that is working as being a viable option for end game content.

The biggest thing Life builds need is more Maximum Elemental Resistance or to convert Elemental Damage Taken into Physical Damage Taken.

Agreed. Armor must be meaningful so something concerning the elemental damage conversion is what it needs.
Yup, that sounds good. Elemental damage was reason why I have switched from hp to es, as hp has no mechanic to avoid that damage except huge amount of life.
The only thing that life needs is a bigger pool to absorb certain one shots.

Just buff life nodes a bit and there you go.

You should be able to get 8k life or so without kaoms.

I think instead of the usual "buff this/nerf that" model, GGG should focus on effective hitpoints.

So the current meta is to stack a shit ton of ES and go CI, fine.

Well maybe give some advantages to life then. Maybe give life builds the ability to stack better mitigation.

This will solve the lower life of life builds but increasing effective hitpoints can be built in to compensate and give a more distinct difference between hp and CI, rather than just blindly stacking as much for the sake of not getting 1 shot

Obviously CI and life are different (stun, leech, elemental effects) but we need to further develop this so that players can have the option (through investment) of having a tanky 6,000 hp life build vs a 13,000 CI build being on par, as far as effectively mitigating 1 shots...

Rather than nerfing the CI meta to the ground and buffing the scion life wheel or whatever (which you know will happen)

Its honestly a really easy fix. Increase natural life gained per level and add armour/evasion to existing passive life nodes in the areas around ranger duelist and marauder.
ProbablyGettingNerfed - L100 Occultist
Vinktarded - L100 Pathfinder
GoogleDiversityHire - L100 Necromancer

3.13 was the pinnacle of PoE. IVYS+1 Gang 4 Life.

I think thats a good call.

life per level is where its at imo, not buffing nodes, not buffing potential rolls on gear, not giving us % increased life bench rolls for rings etc, fuck all that. Life per level is the smart way to do it.

+4 life per level would result in around 1k extra life for lvl90 characters? would that be enough?

4 or 5 life per level + hurt vaal pact + make armour/evasion easier to scale would be my take on it.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
History has shown just buffing everything else because you have an overpowered (and broken) mechanic just leads to poor gameplay and more problems down the road.

I would prefer fights become more mechanical by nature and the amount of 1 shot mechanics reduced.

I personally think Vaal Pact is the root of the problem here and think people overall underestimate life builds.
Buff LIFE to be as good as ES but noooooooooooo instead they want to nerf ES to be as shitty as LIFE like?????????
