Promenade mage boss' reflect spell needs some rework
|
I shaped my Promenade map. Now I'm running a cyclone crit staff build, and I killed myself three times in a row on that stupid mage boss.
I have huge defenses to everything, especially with the flasks on : 90% physical damage reduction, 20% chance to evade, Taste of Hate, 28% block chance, Fortify, Juggernaut's ascendancy passive 8% additionnal elemental damage reduction, 4 500 life, 10% life regen, increased life leech... But this fucking bullshit lightning reflect kills me anyway. No lesser resists or max resists map mode. Since it isn't spell damage, I should be able to evade and block some of the reflected damage, but the speed at which I died despite my good defense have me doubt that those Lightning Thorns follow the same mechanic. So let's say they do, and that I should've paid attention to when the spell wears off. How do I know it? There is ZERO way to tell if that boss has it on. No aura, nothing. And that's stupidly insulting. If a boss has something that deadly to fuck you up with, at least put some visual effects on it to tell the player "Dude, don't attack now, you'll die." There is most definitely a visual indicator. Namely the GIANT lightning circle on the ground. The Lightning Thorns on the Promenade Boss is actually a radius on the ground. If they are inside that radius, they have the thorns. Get them to move out of the circle, and they do not have it.
U MAD?

" He got me the other day, good tip, didnt know about the circle thanks |
|
" http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Promenade_Map The GIANT lightning circle you're speaking of is a Conductivity curse zone, which does nothing except increase the ligthning damage you take. Lightning Thorns is a spell buff the mage boss casts on himself. |
|
" I think the guy with the 2h sword casts it |
|
" There are two different circles. One is the conductivity curse. The other is a circle that gives lightning thorns, and has the same visual appearance as the thorns that Shav has... Run the map again. You will see the two distinct circles. That is the reason that the Sword dude can also get thorns. U MAD?

" Yeah I looked at some videos, and I noticed the thorny blue aura circle around Shavronne. Never noticed before that, even with 1200 hrs of PoE, but eh, a day without learning is a lost day. Thanks for the tip. Do you know how long it is supposed to last? There isn't any info on the wiki... |

Some ancient information :D Although promenade map has since changed, aside from the blasphemy circles, bosses are pretty much the same aren't they. Although projectile doesn't shotgun like that anymore and chain is mostly niche now, ppl have so much more atk and cast speed anyways and use multihitting abilities often. |
|
" Thanks for the video, one piece of info that isn't clear in the Lightning Thorns' wiki page is the damage per hit it deals, so the more hits per second you score on the target the quicker you'll lose life. My cyclone build has insane attack speed, that explains why I died in half a second. |

the more you know.. I remember when shav would kill me in Core with like 12K ES and a bazzilion discharge dps. Died like 10x before I figured out mainly cuz discharge you cant see shit lol.
At least when discharge fired like 10x a second you couldnt. Now you can see it. Thats not a buff.:( Git R Dun! Last edited by Aim_Deep#3474 on Feb 7, 2017, 7:57:09 PM
