Why you should be thanking GGG for porting to the xbox
As some others, I fail to see the positive side here.
" But if those improvements go into the same direction as past ones have, that's a moot point for those complaining about the direction the game has gone. It's an autocatalytic process: make the game more appealing by x, which the people who originally came to PoE don't like → get more people who like x (and more of x, please) → more x is added → more people. This might be great from a business point of view, but it is unsatisfactory for those who came here when the game was harder. And those people were the ones who by buying supporter packs enabled GGG to grow. Bird lover of Wraeclast

This forum recently has filled with Nostradamus followers, every 2nd post is how the game in the futre will die/or lack content/be slower for PC or whatever.
If anyone is digging its own grave its GGG not you. Plenty of other online games to enjoy. HL3 aint out aswell and we still breathe (how is this even possible). |

BUUUUUUUUUL SHIIIIIIIIT
Do you think that if they were not porting to the console, they would just ignore those issues? Those problems could have even gotten rid sooner since they would be focused on making the PC version good, and not making a good Xbox version and then porting the fixes to the PC version. Every cent spent on the xbox version is not in total ported to the PC version. Meanwhile were it not for the xbox version, we would have gotten 3 years of development focused on the PC version alone. Do you realize how much they could have actually fixed? |

" (This post isn't meant as an answer to you, but you mentioned Nostradamus, and that made me think) I remember another philosopher, though I don't remember his name(Heraclitus maybe?), who talked a lot about how people have an over-romantic view of the past. It makes me think about this "romantification" of what PoE used to be versus what it is today. Maybe the masses are to young to know this, but when you reach a certain age, you realize you will never experience the same emotions to the same things as you did before. But I'm pretty sure of it, if you started playing PoE today, you would find it as hard, as complex and as fun, if not more so, as you did the first time. When "you" first played PoE, you were new. You knew nothing. You had everything to discover. Every build. Every item. Every class. Every node. Tonnes of information to swallow, experiences to experience and joys to fell for the first time. PoE could NEVER live up to that. Never. No matter what road GGG decided to take. So these "everything was better before"-crown reminds me of retired teachers, shit-talking the youth today. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile. Last edited by Phrazz#3529 on Jan 21, 2017, 6:28:23 AM

" so they had no intentions to fix the pc version if they wouldn't make a xbox version? makes me think do they even care about the pc community? So wonder what will happen to the pc version once the xbox version is live... Oh and they knew for so long the would make a xbox version without even bother to tell the community? those 2 things together really is fucked up to do not letting the supporters know what they are up to... So thank you GGG for not letting us know when u guys know it for so long! And thank you GGG for not caring about pc users enough to not fix the pc version if it wasn't for the xbox version! 3.26 when?

" Ofc man, many said they wouldnt support GGG in the extent they did if they knew their money was going towards a Xbox port. Gotta milk the community till the microtransactions can carry your company. Then you are too big to care if your supporters GTFO. |

" i never said i wouldn't have supported the game if i knew about it! i would poe is the best game ever for me. ii was just replying to op which i don't believe is true i hope atleast... and yes i stop supporting till i know the game is still good after the release of the xbox release because i don't know what will happen to poe. maybe they deserve more sales in supporter packs maybe not time will tell. 3.26 when?

So, is Chris saying that without the console port, PoE would remain at the horrible technical & performance stage it was 3 years ago? Does anyone think the game would survive and flourish, if it still had the good ole desink from 2013? I don't think so.

" Not hard to predict. Every great PC game that moves to the masses console gets shittier - less complex, faster finish, bigger menus, scrolling inventories, auto aim, lack of editor, no mod support, etc etc etc and get worse every port. e.g. PC Dragon Age > Dragon Age II > Dragon Age III PC Morrowind > Oblivion > Skyrim PC CoD > CoD II > CoD III > CoD IV I could go on but never has a game got better after consolization. Two entirely different markets so they cant please both PC gamer and console crowd. Git R Dun! Last edited by Aim_Deep#3474 on Jan 21, 2017, 10:55:25 AM
