Why you should be thanking GGG for porting to the xbox
Had a brief conversation with Chris via email and received his permission to post this
Basically the big technical changes to the game have been due to the port to console, that would mean the much loved change to the game that REMOVED DESYNC (lockstep) was made due to predictive not being viable for the console port, as is async loading, not to mention the obvious multi threading and x64, dx11 client. ![]() Pity all people can seem to do is focus on the negatives that would have been there with or without the console port Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi He who controls the pants controls the galaxy. - Rick & Morty S3E1 Last bumped on Jan 21, 2017, 10:49:44 AM

" no the real pity is that it they have no intention on upgrading the PC game unless it is directly involved in a project somewhere else. that is exactly how i am reading your statements there. in other words had console not came along we would all be lagging, running dx9, stuttering, and so on until everyone left the game from frustration. | |
The issue with that logic here is...
WE SHOULD have gotten those ANYWAYS. Those should not, in ANY WAY have been linked to the Xbox port. What he said has now actively made him and his company look EVEN WORSE. Tell me...if Xbox didn't exist, or if he didn't want to port to it...Would he have been okay NOT removing Desync, not adding multithreading, not going to x64 and DX11? Cuz that's what you are trying to make it sound like. If he would not have given us those without the port, then this company is even more foolish than I thought, and they might want to consider quitting before they make things worse. - Sheepster |

I dont play on lockstep anymore as ping spikes are just too often on my connection (its like 10ms normally, but ramdom jumps to 150/200+ are just too annoying)
their predictive now is 100x better than the old predictive, all because of coding issues they've found. which, frankly speaking, shouldve been found in the very beginning. in the design and code review phase. so sure, its great that they fixed netcode indirectly because of a direction they chose to go, but really, at least on the predictive side, it's called code refactoring and fixing bugs and testing properly. its like thanking you getting in a car accident, going to hospital and finding out accidentally you have early stage cancer that can be somewhat treated. doesnt make you getting under the car any less bad/stupid/painful. |

It's true there has been good things due to console development. But I feel the bad in negative ways. Compared to when i came (1.0) in about act 2 or 3 normal you get all the candy to blast through everything all the way to end game where only the hard boss don't get one shot. Preferred more stick less carrot back then.. Feel like game is alredy turning into an arcade/console game. GGG has taken the thrill and struggle out me at least. Power is off the charts. Its all clear speed meta like a console has. Yes its fun until it's not which why leagues die so fast. Chase/struggle and pacing is gone. It's the chase that keeps us interested not god mode so we quit. Same reason we don't sit in standard for years with our GG gear.
Anyway no regrets. Got what I paid for. Entertainment tabs and MTX. But it will only get worse from here like other great PC games that were ported. The Design decisions catering to console crowd and hardware ruined great PC games like dragon age, elderscolls series, CoD among others and will do same for PoE despite how great it runs. Git R Dun! " I don't think the leagues are dying any faster than they ever did. Breach HC had fucktons of rips especially for the first few weeks. The speed meta is a choice to cater to a wider audience which can be seen as good or bad but does lead to more money == more improvements. Maybe they need more BLAMT type events or even leagues for the extremely challenging content to cater to the non speed-meta audience? BLAMT is frigging awesome but always a bit short. |

Well I hope console gives a difficulty slider lake every other game has and you could run BLAMT or BLAMT 2 all the time.:P
Then I buy another pack:) Until then it's time to try out Grim Dawn I own 2 copies of now and have not played it. One bought on stream sale and forgot I owned it other I got DRM free version from gog. Git R Dun!

What you're saying is that PoE is now and has been developed exclusively with console in mind.
That is the opposite of what we want, and what they have promised. Last edited by ChrisVicious#5533 on Jan 20, 2017, 9:14:41 PM

It's funny that you see his admissions in positive light, but in reality, this is yet another proof, that console is bigger driving force for GGG than PC. So yes, once XBOX is out, you'll be eating the scraps left of the XBOX development...
