Difference between HP/ES
" Then you are literally not trying to get life. 5K is EZPZLEMONSQUEEZY with Marauders. Hell, 6.5-7K isn't hard to get. Most builds in that part of the tree can afford to spend the majority of their passives getting defenses anyway... U MAD?

" every single one even the 4% around there. as high life as I can on all gear. at 4.5k. Es character well over 6.5k ES now. could push it over 7k with current gear, but resist would suffer. |

" This is false. I have run a marauder and grabbed most of the juicy hp nodes around me and gotten t2 life rolls on all my gear and been around the 5k mark. Given, I wasn't past level 80 at this point, but everyone makes it sound like you should hit 5k health while not even bothering with getting t1 life rolls on EVERYTHING. On the other hand, pick up yourself a 750 ES chest piece and a 400 ES shield and as many ES nodes as you can hit by level 70 and you suddenly break 7k ES like it is a joke. To break 7k life you need 4 or 5 nice jewels with life on them, ALL the life nodes around you AND t2-t1 life rolls on basically everything and be close to level 90 usually. Not to mention how much damage you most likely gave up traveling JUST to all the hp nodes. I guess I will have to buy a one way ticket to hell with your lives

Just for your information you have no right to start a thread with questions targeted at GGG. Most of the time they would not respond to such posts.

Not going to rip on anyone else's responses; here's my experience in this matter:
Getting 5k+ life isn't entirely a hard thing. Do note that the level of the character DOES matter. First character I made in this league was a Slayer (love them). I broke past 5k life really easily with a 2H weapon and simple run of the mill gear. I didn't properly optimize. Buddy of mine told me that I had too much life on my build. I wasn't using any %Life jewels at all. After converting my build to a Magic Finder, I still ended up with over 5k life. 222% Life (high to make up for my gear) and +124 Flat Life (+40 from Oak Passive) , and another +191.5 from STR from the passive tree alone. Here's the stuff my MFer used: Weapon: A White Foil (no stats - for Ascetic) Shield: Wheel of the Stormsail (no relevant Life Stats) Helm: Redblade Callous Mask of the Thunderhead (Redblade mod + 30 Lightning res - for Ascetic) Chest: An Astral Plate with +94 Life Gloves: Sadima's Touch (no relevant Life Stats) Boots: Goldwyrm (no relevant Life Stats) Amulet: The Ascetic (no relevant Life Stats) Belt: Perandus Blazon +29 All stats (effectively +14.5 Flat Life) Ring 1: a +56 Life Ring w/ Res Ring 2: a +74 Life Ring w/ Res Level 91 - 5323 Life ---- The Life Formula dumbed down is: (38 + [Character Level * 12] + [Strength/2] + [Added Life #]) x (1 + (Total % Increased Life Value) - (Total % Reduced Life Value)) x (1 + (Total % More Life Value)) x (1 + (Total % Less Life Value)) ---- If I was to be using my old 2H Gear from an outdated build with ~175% Life (150% is usually enough for Softcore) from the Tree, no Jewels, I would probably have something along the lines of: Weapon: Doesn't matter. It's not a Starforge, it doesnt have Life Head: Devoto's Devotion (no relevant Life Stats) Chest: Carcass Jack - +68 Life Gloves: Snakebite - +68 Life Boots: +81 Life (T1 Roll, got a bit lucky) Amulet: Daresso's Salute (no relevant Life Stats) Belt: Leather Belt +27 Life w/ +74 Life (T3) w/ Res Ring 1: a +56 Life Ring w/ Res (same as above) Ring 2: a +74 Life Ring w/ Res (same as above) +124 Flat Life (+40 from Oak again) +383 Strength (+191.5 Flat Life) Level 80 Life: 4640.625 Level 91 Life: 5207.125 Obviously, this can be brought to much greater heights easily had I used any % maximum Life Jewels (7 sockets in the build, so that's an easy +49% life there) and maybe swapped over to a Kaom's Heart or a Belly of the Beast, properly replace a ring, get a slightly better belt (I have another one with +38 and +99 Life with less res) and replace the Snakebite to a glove w/ Life instead, etc, etc., it's quite simple to break the 5k mark. Im sure I can break 7-8k with T1 rolls and ~around 200% max Life. Look at how level effects Life. I used the same 175% life from the tree and just from 11 levels I got about 566 Life. My original build idea had about 230-250% or so life actually, and it can still run t14's and so pretty smoothly. ----- I've always been a Life > ES guy. Not fond of ES even though I have a few CI/LL characters. Yeah, breaking 6k+ ES is very easy. Reached 11k on CI with pretty much crap gear. Biggest qualm I had about ES characters is that you have to sacrifice either your Amulet or 1 Ring slot to get better answers vs Stuns unless you own a Skyforth or something. I always told my buddies that they should bump all the life nodes by 1% or something, but after doing the math, it would be pretty silly to find myself looking at characters with 6-7k hp on average, and people like Dismantle might end up with 20k+ life if he really pushed for it. |

Deadpeng. yes about Dismantle... Obviously you don´t have a clear mind when you are talking about Dismantle just because he have a FULL Legacy gear setup on SoftCore on his char. which isn´t even possible these days to reach in HardCore league**
And how much damage do you have to clear maps ??? if you focus all on the life in this game :) just tell me ? :) That is mine opinion in this. GGG needs to do something about this quickly to stabilize the game. Because right now "ES" is much stronger than "LIFE" Thanks for me i´m Sklips :) |

In the current league:
Remade another Slayer, Cycloner, building towards the Endless Retch build, but getting stumped by currency problems. Current Stats: 143% Life from Tree +323 STR from Tree (+161.5 Flat Life) +88 STR from Gear (+44 Flat Life) +49 Flat Life from Gloves +81 Flat Life from Boots +74 Flat Life from Ring 1 +74 Flat Life from Ring 2 +97 Flat Life from Belt +124 Flat Life from Tree (+40 Oak) Current Life: 4195 - USING A GOD DAMN T-SHIRT Lvl 82 I will have 7 Jewel Sockets, 1 used for an Intuitive Leap, the others dedicated to 7% Life, so that's a 42% increase. Probably more STR from Tree Belt will be swapped for a Retch, so I lose a good chunk of Life there. Boots MAY be swapped for the Death's Door, so I lose life there again. Chest Piece is supposed to be a Kaom's Heart, but I'm considering the Belly of the Beast instead for options. End of the day, I should have around 6-7k or more Life when I'm lvl 90+ ATM: With Hatred on, I have 30966 tooltip for Cyclone (With Inc AOE, not Conc. Didn't Swap out gem. With Conc, I show 50k+) Pop Vessel of Vinktar, Lion's Roar, Atziri's Promise, sit at 3 Frenzy Charges, Ele Overload, and Swap out my Fortify for Melee on Full Life, I think I broke upwards of 75k or so with Inc AOE. I haven't really checked. Just with the regular Inc AOE setup, Fortify, and just the Flasks, I was able to mow down 2 player health t15's pretty easily. I have some of mana issues vs single target. Resistance and Temp Chains maps slow me down a bit, but it's still fine. Helm enchant is wrong. I need +Cyclone Attack Speed. I can also use Rallying Cry if I wanted to (I should). I never really checked my numbers with Vaal Haste on, since I'm usually too busy mowing things down. I'll make another post with proper numbers later when I get out of work. Honestly, you don't really need THAT much damage. A generic Yellow T13-15 Map gets cleared relatively quickly. I usually dont spend more than 1-2 seconds on white mobs, unless the map has Unwavering. Magic Mobs can take a few seconds depending on what mob type (friggin Zombies and Golems have too much health). Rares take anywhere from 5-X seconds depending on their mods and if I popped my flasks or not. Bosses usually go down quickly when I swap over to Conc eff and pop all my flasks. *Note: before anyone complains, all my items shown are self found, with 1 exception: the Vessel of Vinktar, which I bought for 70c+. I got super lucky with the Daresso's Salute, as I rolled it out of a Jack in the Box. Last edited by Sentilial#1887 on Jan 22, 2017, 10:10:49 AM

Difference between life and ES is very easy.
In order to go CI u need ... currency. U need to buy good 6l ES chest. That's 10ex. So first u go life and farm currency for ur CI swap. Then u go CI. That's it. U can't go CI from the start. How not to miss Skill Books /view-thread/1940679
Find Bameth /view-thread/1828226 Exas for new players /view-thread/1956615 Checking resources /view-thread/2453818 Don't use Shaper/Elder orbs /view-thread/2474890 |

Sadly for scrubs (myself included) don't expect any buffs as long as there are streamers with l33t dodging skills like Mathil doing dozens of successful Shaper runs with 5.5k-ish life builds and 5L only.
These days I went CI for second builds in temp leagues. The first char is the life based currency and gear hoarder. CI gearing can be 5x more expensive. First few attempts have been rough. Because we can't use life pots, DPS is more important than ever otherwise we won't be able to leech sufficiently. More planning required and need to get really lucky with exalt drops to buy a 6L vaal regalia ASAP. |
