poe.trade allows you to be instantly notified when someone lists items matching specific criteria get listed, I don't think that is what is really being discussed here. Using only poe.trade and manual copy paste, you can send someone a whisper within 2 seconds of them listing their item manually, if the API is keeping up that day.

At exactly the same time as others and at exactly the same time the alert goes off as well? Thats pretty fast manual copy paste...
Maybe i am just getting slow as i get older.

i once put up a divinationcard without realizing its price has changed (rised) a few chaos in the last days. got instawhispers of some peoples, and since im not new to the tradinggame i knew: priced to cheap. so i raised the price for a chaos, and got instawhispered by THE SAME people again. not 1. 3-4. all sitting all day long in front of poe-trade and sending whispers like crazy when a new item pops up?
well, they are all on my ignore-list now. nice way to pricecheck items and get rid of the "botters" or scripkiddies or whatever at the same time :)

While i agree with Pathological on the bot part wich is not that hard to do in theory ( require bit more than 20 mins to get something that work " just fine " let's be realistic ) and while facts proved botting to be a pain for many video games ( almost killed some online games this is not something you should underestimate ) i don't see a fucking reason to bot in Path of Exile while scamming / flipping / using everything possible to be the perfect ******* is tolerated, legit, and left without any sanctions from GGG.
Private indexers are a reality, there are also some fork of popular third party tools nothing new here aswell, but they don't always provide a bigger interest than the original.
Bots if they exist are a waste of time, i mean come on why would you even use a trading bot when you don't need it to obtain the same result ?
Hf :)

Have you used the feature on the website? You get a loud beep when a new listing pops, as well as a popup on top of your screen if you so choose.
I'm not saying that people don't bot them (infact, I'm specifically saying they do), but its certainly not hard to send a whisper to a player within 2 seconds manually when a new item pops up on the website (and if someone relisted for a new price, it pops again as a new item). If you're after a particular item at a particular price, getting there first is often the important thing. You don't read the sellar if a new one pops 30 seconds later.

What you don't seem to get is that sending a whisper 2 seconds after you hear the boop sound will never get you the item when competing with peoples using private indexers. I've had occurences that i whispered the guy literally 1 second after i hear the boop and the seller told me it was already sold 10-15 secs ago, which means some peoples get the boop before poe.trade sends them, even if you use the fastest notification that poe.trade provides. Those peoples are using provate indexers. Thats why GGG has to make their own official indexer and stop disclosing the trade tabs data publicly. It's just far too unfair for the legit players. Whats the purpose of having a non-pay to win game when theres private indexers provides such an unfair advantage?
Now for the botting part, peoples have to be ignorant if they think theres no bots using indexers. If there are sophisticated bots that actually plays the game efficiently, does the chaos recipes and all that shit then you can be damn sure theres a bot to send a whisper, join a party and click accept on a damn trade screen.

Indexers have access to the same API as poe.trade does, with the same propensity for lagging updates and the same limitations on access frequency.

"Bots" are a pretty loose term, you'll need to describe what you mean by that. Certainly there are macros that will whisper for you. There are bots that play the game. I don't know if there are bots that will go through the entire process of a trade.
I have had trades this league for the first time where I had to accept the trade multiples times and the person didn't communicate with me.
Made me think it was some kind of bad automation.
Perception is reality.

1. There are people fake listing Last Hope for 8c atm.
2. Make a live search for Last Hope =< 8c.
3. Put your Last Hope for 8c.
4. Check how many whispers you get before your own item pops up on poe.trade.
Can be done with pretty much any popular divination card from Brittle to Doctor.
