Stop buying currency off of third party sites with the same info you login to PoE with.

Derp, the secrets out.

As soon as currency selling sites pop up kids start getting "hacked". No coincidence, happens in every RPG online type game.

I did not download any cheat or buy any currency, you seem to get off thinking you're superior to everyone so I doubt you will believe me though.

wrong. my neighbour was hacked (way poorer than me) and i was the last person who was logged on his computer before hack (with my acc). he never logged into his acc from another computer. so obviously ggg servers got hacked.

Unless you know every detail of his/her browsing activity, you cannot state with any accuracy that GGG's servers got hacked.

the people claiming GGG got hacked have no idea how db security works. but hey, i dont expect them to. the only way someone can gain access to the DB that stores username/password info ( wich is more than likely hashed, salted, and perhaps even encrypted ) is to fully breach their network perimitter

There are more ways to attack. Especially because PoE game's DB is connected to the forum in some way. You could try SQL-Injections, Session-Hijacking (PoE forums traffic isnt even encrypted by https protcol) and much more...

You are right, in most cases attacks were made at the users client because it is more easy.
But also a lot of big companies got hacked in the past e.g. Sony, so it could happen to GGG too.

Rift did the same thing. Blamed the users for the hacks. Until it was proven Rift itself got hacked. D3 same thing....

I like how people jump all over the people that got hacked and blame them. I also like how people just "ass"ume that some of the people that got hacked were careless.

Some of us where raised and playing in the world of electronics and computers before the TI994A. Meaning some of us folks know how to secure things on their end to the best it can be secured.

Stop faulting people that got hacked. Sure someone might have been phished or visited unsecure sites or have a keylogger but when there is a large volume of reports of hack then be skeptical about it being just the users fault.

99% of the time, it is the user's fault for not taking the necessary steps to protect their personal information.

99% of the time, "99% of the time" is used as a figurative indicator that something is a very large majority of the total population.

A crappy password is you! If you arent lying out your ass, then you just got bruteforced. Adding a single number to a common word takes seconds to laugh at.

As a follow up post, my account is fine, everything I owned untouched. For those of you blaming GGG, take this to heart. I just publically posted my login and password, and it worked fine.
