EDIT: i thought that competition ends 16 jan 5 pm at my local time (as it usually shown in league announcements etc), but just re-read and realized that it's in NZT time and now is probably already 17 at New Zealand :( Heh, was so busy with updates and missed the right time to submit here. Lesson learned :) But probably there are too many good art submissions so it wouldn't change anything. Still curious to see the results!

"A Day Atop the The Sceptre of God"

Dominus tapped the glass of the containment tube that held back Piety’s new gift. It shifted inside and watched in an overbearing glare one can only accomplish with eight eyes.

The front half of a bear and the rear of a spider was indeed the impressive sight to behold. It was dangerous from both ends. The laughter escaping from the confines of Dominus was hijacked by a loud chime.

Turning about abruptly in an annoyed manner, Dominus sauntered over towards the scrying crystal. Another Exile climbed the Sceptre of God once more. They appeared every few days like ants in the sugar supply.

“Let us see which one it is this time.”

The Exile moved like a drug enhanced acrobat and slightly blurred like a Sasquatch in every photo. While those traits were perpendicular to normal, there was something else odd about this Exile. No, not odd, but wrong.

A flowing hooded cloak obscured the Exile from view.

“That is not possible! A hooded cloak completely ignores the current Laws of Physics!”

Bending closer to the orb in an angry jerk, Dominus surveyed the Exile as a dog does a bee in an effort to discover a weakness. The exile dodged and weaved through the denizens of the Sceptre like a greased pig or a prize-fighter or a prize fighting pig (give ‘em the ol’ 1-2-squee).

Dominus could not make out any weapons but there was something hanging off a belt onto each hip. Similar to saddle bags he thought. Not leather though and more of a rectangle.

Dominus could feel the gaze of Piety’s gift as much as he hoped the Exile could feel his. Glancing at it through the blue hued glass he wondered if he should unleash it.

“No. It’s not ready yet. My own powers should suffice.” Taking a deep breath, Dominus practiced his one-liners.

He would have to take this Exile on himself as Imperator Stantinus Bitterblade had twisted an ankle using his absurd cyclone attack in the last fight. Draconarius Wilhelm Flamebrand went right off the side of the Sceptre after using a leap attack and slipping in the constant rain. The fool was still regenerating in one of the containment tubes. That left Compulsor (did they all just spend their currency on titles) Octavia Sparkfist to aid him.

Checking the weekly schedule, it was as Dominus feared. She was on lunch break.

The other three cohorts for phase two of the fight (if the Exile actually made it that far) were off playing poker at Piety’s. Were they playing poker or using pokers? Shaking his head, Dominus ejected the thought process as a child does when hearing, “Time for a nap.”

“Why does my faith falter? You are more than capable of doing this Dominus. Give them the Touch of God so they can embrace the empty Void and you can go back to finding others to exile.”

Feeling a bit more confidant Dominus turned towards the stairs the Exile would ascend to greet him. The new confidence audibly shattered as he noticed the Exile was already present and halfway across the arena.

Orbs of sweat went off like fireworks on the forehead of Dominus, High Templar as he gazed at the weapons that hung from the Exile’s leather belt.

A yellow box rode on each hip. The hood-hidden Exile flicked a lid up on each.

Dominus felt something he vaguely recalled from childhood. Pure terror. Not that 42.5% proof stuff they sell at vendors, but real unaltered Terror with a capital scream.

Stammering “but” in a clipped cadence similar to a parrot or a stuck audio file, Dominus scrambled back and tripped on his robes. Plummeting to the rain slick tile in shock (the tile was more shocked than he was truth be told), Dominus went pale when he could not summon his power.

The Exile leaped with a flourish into the air towards Dominus.

A voice cracked forth from the hood as the Exile drove the colored wax sticks towards Dominus, “I’m here to color you in, Dominus.”

A grin broke forth from the shadows of the hood along with the voice, “With red and purple!”

“From the journals of Dominus, High Templar in the yea-what?! Stop recording that! Blasted Oriathian technology!”

Every unique item in game can drop with any soul, but no more then one soul. All the souls are themed with there own unique set of powers and bonuses.
