" Why not argue point by point instead of writing one lengthy meaningless composition? Hmm. Maybe it is used to discourage me from even replying to it to save themselves from another embar??s?ment >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Where did I say anything about "force"? I asked you to learn how to quote properly. What you just posted is rather ... ugly. It's a quote of what I wrote with stuff you say in reply to it inside the same quote; which looks as if I were talking to myself, which is not half as entertaining as talking to you. Ans: I wrote whatever I want and if you don't like it then don't read it if it's so ugly to you, True that you did not use the word "force" but you impliedly TOLD others to learn how to quote IN ORDER to SUIT your reading preferences. You the boss? Thus, I was not wrong to say that. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Writing in caps is not explicitly against forum rules, but it's generally considered impolite and implies yelling. This is not only my own personal interpretation, but general netiquette (you can read up on netiquette here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette - you don't have to and I can't force you to :P); writing in all caps will get you kicked in many IRC chats and forum moderators often also will ask you not to do it. Ans: "Generally considered" means its actual fact? Well, I could also argue say that writing in caps is considered something to be of great importance? That's why almost all instructions in manuals are written in caps? What you or others perceived it as does not necessarily means the truth, REMEMBER THAT. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Regarding the long way between "Just my opinion"... I conceded (hence the "Sorry" just at the beginning of 3.) that I was mistaken here. It's not very easy to discern where your example ends (and let me guess, you write what you want as long as it is not against the TOC (did you mean TOU, CoC) and I can't force you to write in any way), so others might make the same mistake when they read it. Ans: Awww... Oh i get it... More excuses not just in this thread but in other previous threads? Sorry nobody would get it wrong. The only reason they got it wrong was because "they are desperately trying to get back at him for every chance they have got to the extend that they misinterpreted or do not comprehend what people are saying" >>> quote from my earlier posts ; ) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Number 4.: Moot point, since it is the result of a misunderstanding. So let's let it rest. Ans: Eh who's the one who misunderstood? Clearly, if my posts were not interpreted wrongly, then would the misunderstanding arise? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> As for the boots: You put forward the opinion that drops are rigged so that a character may find good items, but not the ones that specific character needs. I argued, that in my opinion it's rather a matter of statistics - so many uniques that could drop make it hard to find one specific unique, even if it is rather common (as the price of 1 alch for Bones of Ullr suggests). However, since I did have a useful drop for my summoner, this is a hint that drops are not rigged, but that it is indeed the amount of possible drops that limits useful ones. I could have just given my opinion without anything to substantiate it - but then it would have been just that, an opinion floating around among other opinions. This is also what I was trying to make clear in 7.: Just because I don't agree with your opinion, post one contrary to yours and substantiate it, does not mean I have anything against you personally (heck, I probably don't know you personally). It's a normal part of a discussion; which I wanted to express by saying that a discussion is not just the piling up of opinions, but also of disputing them, fleshing them out with facts or at least observations. Moreover, I was not accusing you of piling up opinions and disputing them, I was saying that a meaningful discussion is not just a pile-up of opinions and that disputing them (i.e. work on them, try to disprove other opinions, try to explain why you think your opinion is more valid or perhaps even not only an opinion) is an integral part of a discussion. Ans: same argument. You only need to write the name of the item that you found "bones of ullr" for convenience but your actions suggest otherwise. That boots cost only 1 alchemy which means it is VERY CHEAP and INSIGNIFICANT and so there is no need to brag about the boots and go as far as to link that boots (including the picture) LOL. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "Just because I don't agree with your opinion, post one contrary to yours and substantiate it, does not mean I have anything against you personally (heck, I probably don't know you personally)" >>> https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1787447/page/1 >>> Read page 1 to page 18 PLUS this thread. Seriously nothing against me lol? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "Moreover, I was not accusing you of piling up opinions and disputing them, I was saying that a meaningful discussion is not just a pile-up of opinions and that disputing them" Ans: Extract from your posts >>>>"Please be aware that in a meaningful discussion you don't just pile up opinions, but dispute them." VERSUS "Moreover, I was not accusing you of piling up opinions and disputing them, I was saying that a meaningful discussion is not just a pile-up of opinions and that disputing them" OOOO seems that he is telling me two different things? Somebody changing his tunes? If you are not accusing me of "piling up opinions and disputing them", is there a NEED to tell me " Please be aware that in a meaningful discussion you don't just pile up opinions, but dispute them " Is this statement , " Please be aware that in a meaningful discussion you don't just pile up opinions, but dispute them" even RELEVANT to me if you do not have the intention to say that I AM "piling up opinions and disputing them" ? REALLY MAKES ME LOL WHOLE DAY LONG. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The next point is interesting, because you often say I accused you of anything (of lying, of being angry, [please insert others here]), but you yourself accuse me of not being able to read or of not having played the game in merciless difficulty or on maps. Well, not that I care much what you think which difficulties I have played and which maps, but please explain to me why you refuse to look up my profile, which would prove that you're dead wrong there? Afraid of facts? I can't link anything here to prove that I have played maps or in merciless, because all the items I could link I could also have bought with currency I found playing up to cruel; even maps, which would be stupid of course, if I didn't play them, but no proof. I could ask guild mates to confirm that I played in merciless and maps, but would you believe them? Or is it enough to tell you: You're wrong, I have played merciless and a lot of maps, I have a level 8 Zana in standard, I have a level 91 Elementalist in Standard and a level 88 Deadeye and some other characters between 70 and 80? It's just a click (on my name under my avatar) away. Not sure what you mean when you say "Some paper profile". Ans: Just read up my latest reply directly above this? I was right when i say that you accused me unless you have a better explanation on that? REALLY MAKES ME LOLL WHOLE DAY LONG. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "but you yourself accuse me of not being able to read" VERSUS "Regarding the long way between "Just my opinion"... I conceded (hence the "Sorry" just at the beginning of 3.)" SO you indirectly admitting that I did not accuse you of being UNABLE to read properly and hence the "sorry"? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "Well, not that I care much what you think which difficulties I have played and which maps, but please explain to me why you refuse to look up my profile, which would prove that you're dead wrong there? I telling this the second time that I don't check in other people's profile to find any excuse to fault them. If i really want to fault them, its based on their argument, not just some paper profile that means nothing to what they are trying to discuss. Too hard to understand? And I am not afraid of being dead wrong. "From the way you speak in all your posts not just in this thread, you seemed to be a casual player and probably have not played in merciless mode or maps before" I used the word "seemed" and "probably" but did i say you HAVE NEVER played in merciless and maps. Oh you misinterpreted it again just like in point 3 again? Learn to differentiate the meaning please. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> " I'm not sure if this is post-factualism or the Dunning-Kruger effect. ANS: ONLY YOU HAVE THE ANSWER LMAO >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "By the way, have you found your exalted orb, yet? If not you can have mine (for free)" ANS: Seriously, did you even read up this thread? https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1787447/page/4 I already said i found it. Seems to me that someone has a habit of not reading up threads even though he is involved in the thread before making any comments? That's why their argument is always flawed? Oh sorry I look at your profile and compare yours against my characters and realize that you are so much MORE in need of an exalt. It's ok, you can save it for yourself so that you can get better equipment to ascend to maybe cruel mode in this league? Last edited by YoursTruly86#4027 on Dec 14, 2016, 8:00:05 AM

" "Nice comebacks" by the way lmao. However, it seems to me that you are actually "helping yourself" ; ) Its ok whatever POE does not have does not meant that it does not exists. >>>>>>>> Is it because they have been shamed by that person before and that's why they are desperately trying to get back at him for every chance they have got to the extend that they misinterpreted or do not comprehend what people are saying? >>> quote from my earlier posts ; ) |

OK, I won't answer to all of that, given it's become a wall of text that is painful to look at.
" Well, the quote function is there because other people also think it is a good idea. Thus I asked you to learn it. Would make life easier in threads to come. " No it really means that it is a convention in internet communication. Also, we're not in a manual or instruction here, but in an internet forum, so the context implies all caps = against netiquette. An Example: Belching in public is generally considered impolite. Go around belching publicly and see if people like it and don't ask you not to. [/example] " Now it's time for me to tell you to learn to read (or rather understand). "You" does not necessarily mean you personally, but is used in English to make a general statement. "You don't bite the hand that feeds you." → I don't know if you do, but generally it's a bad idea. An alternative to that is using "one", which to many may seem too formal or outdated. "One does not bite the hand that feeds one." I don't know what your native language is, "you" can be used the same way as "on" in French, "man" in German, perhaps that helps. Glad that I could make you laugh. Laughing is a great thing. " Yep, we're way off-topic. However, to quote you once again, here's your full quote: " While it is true that you used "seem" and "probably", the last sentence renders this choice of words moot, since you're telling me I'd first have to experience this in order to have a relevant opinion about loot drops. " I'm not sure you understood this, either. Well, I'll keep my exalt then. Since I don't trade, I'm not sure how it will help me, though. Hey OP, good intentions but still kind of meaningless. New players in general are hooked and enjoying the game and they will rarely be active forum members (it's unlikely they'll read this 'warning' post and even less likely for them to be scammed for any valuable items cos' they won't have it yet).
Besides, looks like the PoE design team loves this kind of 'dirty economy' (*yawn*... lame), it's here to stay and so suggestions and 'how to remedy this situation' speeches and debates are a bit of a wasted effort 'cos it ain't gonna happen. I agree with you btw, PoE trading is absolute garbage and anti-fun and it beats the crap out of me how any developer or designer could possibly consider it to be any other than pure retarded sh!t design... anyway. You should leave that dude Mikrotherion alone. Thread too cluttered by now :) |

" You the boss now? :P Anyway, regarding me accusing you of piling up opinions. I finally get it. Sorry. When I said that a discussion is not piling up opinions, that was not an accusation that you do that. At least, it was not intended as such (but could be interpreted as one - but is it my fault if you interpret what I write incorrectly?), the focus was rather, and I tried to explain that, that if I put my opinion against yours (without substantiating it) it would be a simple accumulation of opinions, not a discussion. I felt I needed to say that because your reaction to opinions that were different from your own seemed like you took it personally. Like people were posting other opinions to have a go at you, while they actually wanted to discuss. As for the quote buttons - just forget them. I can live with your style, but it would have been nicer. " Well, have to...; it would just be nice, because netiquette and other conventions are not in place because someone wanted to play boss and invented them, but because they make living together or in this case, communicating with each other easier and less prone to misunderstandings. But I see that the concept of adhering to unwritten rules seems, for some reason, alien to you. Never mind. Just an example of how this had gone: [Example] You: WRITING IN ALL CAPS HERE TRYING TO GET SOMETHING ACROSS. Me: Writing in caps is not explicitly against forum rules, but it's generally considered impolite and implies yelling. You: Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks for pointing it out. However, when I write in all caps I want to express that something is important. [/Example] Instead you go on about "generally considered" not meaning it was actual fact. And you got flak from me for that. Ah well, too late now to change it. Let it rest and I will remember that when you write in caps it's meant it's important. Please inform me if you yell at me, for caps will henceforth be recognized as something of importance. So yes, you can present your ideas and thoughts according to your preferences and not to mine; be aware, though, that they are not mine alone (I didn't ever write any guides on netiquette) and that others might call you out on your use of all caps and don't be surprised if now and then you might be misunderstood if you're not conforming to conventions. About your use of maybe, seem and so on: You're really not making it easy. " Well, the "seemed" is innocent enough; "Probably" is stronger, because it says that you think it is unlikely that I have played merciless and maps. Add to that the advice to first experience that and it is nearly as good as telling me: "You're a noob and you haven't played merciless or maps". OK, so you didn't say it literally. You only so strongly implied it that it is hard to take it any other way. The placement of "maybe" is dubious and it actually doesn't really add anything. Now to your list of questions. Thanks for providing one. :3 1) Answered above 2) I don't see the question, sorry. Could you rephrase it? 3) Same, I don't see a question. However, you seem to think that a misunderstanding is always the fault of the person who misunderstands. That is not the case. Language is ambiguous, sometimes more, sometimes less. So if I misunderstood what you wrote, maybe that was because you didn't write it so that it was clear and left no room for misinterpretation. But if you do not concede to that, then there're only two possibilities: I can't read or I misunderstood on purpose. Now, I can read and I didn't misunderstand on purpose - so this leaves as the only possibility that perhaps you didn't write down your thoughts as concisely as you think you did. However, we're at a dead end here. 4) You still don't see it, do you? Am I calling you names, make jokes about yo motha, or anything personal? Neither in the RNG thread did I do anything like that nor in this thread here. The only thing I did was not agreeing with you. Which I tried to explain is normal procedure in a discussion and is not about personally liking or disliking anybody. When my wife talks bullshit I call her out on it, and I do immensely like her personally. 5) Answered above, first paragraph 6) Yep, must have slipped my memory. So what? Because I forgot a detail from a different thread my arguments are flawed? Rather strange view. " I was trying to help by explaining in other languages (on of which might be your native language) because I was under the impression that you misunderstood the "you". English only please - Cur solum utar lingua anglica? You the boss? There's nothing in the TOU or the COC about English only. Indeed there's at least one German, one Hungarian, and one Spanish thread here. But yes, it would be generally considered polite to use English as the common denominator in an international forum, especially one which is maintained by a company from a country with English as their official language. However, if you come across some poster and you see them struggle with the English language and you can help them (and thereby avoid misunderstandings, always an important thing) in their native language, pourquoi non utilisé cette langue?
