Is level 100 still impossible?
|
Im a new player, who is still trying to learn the game. Playing around with the skill tree trying to map out my build I started to wonder how many skill points would I realistically be able to acquire in a reasonable time, before I hit a wall where it slows down drastically. I tried to research this question, and many of the answers I found stated that level 100 was all but impossible to obtain. Ive seen this in numerous places. My in game experience however suggests its not that bad? I know last night, on my new character in the breach league a message came up that said "(player name) Is the first player to achieve level 89!" I assume this means someone has hit 89 in just a few days since the breach patch? I spoke to another guy just days after I started playing who was level 70 and he said he had only played that character like 6 days. This has me wondering - has leveling speed changed? The threads and stuff I read in my research indicated level 100 could seemingly take years, yet I see people hitting 89 in a week. My first character, in the standard league is over level 50, and I hadn't even hit merciless yet and am still a complete noob. What is the truth to this? Unless the exp slows down drastically around level 90 I cant find the real answer to my question. Someone inform me.

It does slow down a lot after level 90 but still, 0-100 is possible in a week or so if you play non stop.
If you're planning a build you should aim to have it complete between levels 80-90 at the most. Last edited by Randall#0850 on Dec 7, 2016, 10:59:03 AM

Wouldn't recommend setting 100 as a goal. It's possible, but you'll find that you'll have to play a very boring build for a very long time to get there. Fun builds, with risk involved, wont make it. They'll cap out in the 90s with death penalty matching gain rates.
If you do go for it, be ready to be bored. |

" I guess they have tweaked leveling then over the last 2 years. Some of the threads I saw from a year or two ago on this topic seemed to suggest 100 was nearly impossible to obtain. Doing my skill tree, by the time I grab all the elemental, cold, and spell damage buffs I have like 30 skill points left out of 123. This creates a glass cannon though, and picks up hardly any defensive stats on the skill tree. Im gonna have to really study the skill tree to maximize my damage and defense. Without any respec option this is proving to be tough for a new player. Do I grab these few ticks of 8% elemental damage that are just 3 links away or do i go 5 links away to grab 10% spell damage instead? these are the kinds of scenarios you run into. Im building an Ice Nova witch build, so lots of cold damage. Is there any priority for increasing the damage of a spell like ice nova? you have so many modifiers..... AOE damage, Spell damage, Cold damage, Elemental damage. Are all of these modifiers equal? Are these modifiers additive or multiplicative? for example, if you pick up "+10% spell damage" is it the exact same as picking up "+10% elemental damage". I assume these modifiers also modify some flat number which I have no way of knowing. Lets say my "cold damage" is 100 and my "spell damage" is 200. If this were the case then 10% would not be equal, as 10% to 100 would make it 110 and 10% to 200 would make it 220. There are so many modifiers plastered around the skill tree with no way to really understand what is changing. Is there any solution to this ? It's impossible without an amazingly solid build that never dies and clears fast or a group that spoon feeds you exp.
While it is possible to just run mid tier maps non stop to minimize death the exp penalty would mean it would take several weeks of non stop play. IGN: Arlianth Check out my LA build: 1782214 Last edited by Nephalim#2731 on Dec 7, 2016, 11:57:15 AM

The first hc 100, havoc I believe too several months. Builds have progressively gotten better and better making gaining experience easier and easier, so leveling is quicker.

It's possible to get to 92. After that, it requires oodles of currency and stringing together map after map after map for hours on end (talking like 8 hours a day straight mapping). Then you'll see 100 in about two weeks and if you die at say like level 98+, holy crap that's probably like 20 exalts and a full day of grinding down the drain.
For a new player you're more likely to find a mirror. Legit. Again just GGG balancing around the no lifers. For filthy casuals, forget it man. Don't even bother unless you are the time of person that loves grinding for literally nothing. I stopped at level 97 and while I could probably grind to 98, for a few more nodes, no way. I say 92 is on the low side for tough end game but doable. 95 is a good spot. If you can't do it at 95, probably not gonna do it at 100 unless you're right at a big cluster that will give you another 15% more deeps or something. Deliver pain exquisite

I own a level 100 character and I played nearly restlessly for three months to reach that stage. At the end of that I actually fell sick and spent another two weeks recuperating.

" If I were you I would plan your character at level 90. That is 110 skill points (add 1 skill point for each difficulty that you kill all bandits). |

So what is it that makes getting level 90 easy, but level 100 so hard? Just keep doing the same things you did at 88 and 89 until you hit 100?
