Evasion - cap impossible to reach?
|
I wanted to try each 95% cap evasion at 100lvl. I choose 100lvl just beacause we loosing some evasion/armour/accuracy per each lvl and its impossible with tree which have :
508% evasion rating 114% evasion and armour 78% evasion from dex 380% defences from shield. https://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAABAQAAABeBIcFLQW1CC4JMw2NEHsRLxNQFSAZhhmOG5cgnCLqI_YqTSsKL8wwfDIBMk46rT8nQKBDMUSeRZZHfkkPSn1KyEz_TUZNkk4qUUdRTFO7Vvpbr15FXzlfsGHrYuxlTWegbWxvhHTtd9d6U3rvfVuE2YTvh3aK8I19jb-PmZLzmyabLZuNm7WjiqiiqvisR7Crshm1SL02vjq-p7_VwL_BAMGCwdjC7MM6xILKSs8Kz3rRNtN-1y3YYNrB2xrdDeIs4oDjn-d06NbpRuss62Ptg-4O73r1S_rr_MX_HA==
gear used
Let's start what evasion is: Evasion is the first layer of defence that increases a character's chance to evade incoming attacks. Evasion is opposed by the attacker's accuracy. Along with armour and energy shield, evasion is one of the three defence types that can implicitly appear on equipment. All classes start with 53 base evasion rating and gain 3 additional evasion per level. The first level is included in this, so a level 1 character will have 56 base evasion. This gives a base of 353 evasion at level 100. Dexterity also grants bonuses to evasion. Every 5 points of dexterity provide 1% increased Evasion Rating. Non-multiples of 5 will be rounded up to the nearest multiple of 5 (e.g. 142 dexterity will be rounded to 145). My so my 100lvl character had 353 base evasion and 393 +50dex from reflexes node which should give me around 788 base evasion. My base evasion and chance to evade was look like this without gear: http://i.imgur.com/qKvYUmI.png With just a shield 1292 my evasion was up to 17 470:http://imgur.com/a/c0kHT Fully geared 47 200 eva : http://i.imgur.com/1EjH5kM.png Fully geared with jade flask 69 580 eva: http://i.imgur.com/hGRgti9.png Full geared with both flask 78 249: http://i.imgur.com/kENNrSG.png Full geared both flask + greace magic barier 100 034 evasion: http://imgur.com/a/xXtJK Stibnite flask ( 100% evasion rating) was increae my evasion by only 5699 I assume armour is even worse cause: Armor will never prevent more damage than its value divided by 10 (e.g. 1000 Armor will never prevent more than 100 damage) In order to get rid of clearspeed meta cap global movement speed at 100% but make all skills instant so everything feels great. It doesn't matter. Go to the wiki and read the part about Entropy. It wouldn't matter if you got 100% evasion. They control for having large amounts just like they cap armor.

" PoE rounds down if a next breach point is not reached as far as i am aware. It would be flawed design if you could reach the cap, like how it was possible to reach 100% elemental resistance in the past. You can get close to impunity though, evasion scaling + block or dodge + enfeeble + blind. And you will still get screwed by resolute technique exiles or boss designs, cause why not. Read up on entropy if your interested and how it interacts with block/dodge or "hits" in general. Impressive amount of evasion though. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

Lol, shows how terrible people are on forums and how they dont bother reading past the title.
OP is trying to reach 95% the cap that is actually in the game. And it is worrying that you cant reach it with a full evasion build focusing on nothing but evasion, while you can hit 95% phys damage reduction rather easy. Nice post tough OP, even tough some gems on this forum have a hard time reading things. Also armour is not really worse. Id say armour is superious just because once you have 50k+ you could prevent a max of 5k and that is a lot of dmg prevented. Also armour has an amazing synergy with flat dmg reducing items or things like % reduced dmg. Last edited by deathspenalty#0833 on Nov 27, 2016, 7:22:18 AM

" Correct. I was going to note the same thing :P Also, 140 is closer to 142 than 145 is every day of the week. " That's because it's an Increased-type modifier, making it additive with all the other Increased Evasion you have. :) " A little while back someone made a character with one million Armour. There's nothing that requires that much Armour to reach the 90% Reduction cap (especially with ECharges and Basalt flasks in the mix). " Armour has zero synergy with %Reduced Damage Taken, because Armour comes first. --------- Enfeeble is good shit if you want to Evade more. Last edited by Vipermagi#0984 on Nov 27, 2016, 7:29:00 AM

You are missing atleast 2,5k base evasion in your gear
I was just theorycrafting my Armour tank build yesterday, managed to around 380k Armour with granite and being frozen Also having 9 echarges 25% fortify He could soak up to 100k physical damage hit with 6,5k life :D. Edit: this also made me realize I forgot grace and jade flask from my char :D Ign: LavaMosse TimeZone: GMT+2 Last edited by kaarelo#6451 on Nov 27, 2016, 8:01:05 AM

OP, what % evasion did you get to?
Your character sheet will compare your evasion to the chance to hit of a monster of the same level. The highest level of mob is 90. The numbers in the character sheet won't look right if you are level exceeds that of the monsters (per the wiki) The average accuracy of a level 90 monster is 615. The formula for chance to hit is: chance to hit = (attacker's accuracy)/(attacker's accuracy + (defender's evasion 0.25)^0.8) Based on this formula you can calculate what evasion you need to get 95% evasion. Examples: Against a monster with 615 (lvl 90) accuracy you need 450,000 evasion to reduce their chance to hit to about 5%; that number drops to 190,000 if you want to get them to 10% chance to hit. I recommend running a blind mechanic with evasion, since that reduce the monsters chance to hit by an additional 50%. An earlier poster mentioned entropy, this means that even if you do hit 95% evasion, one hit out of 20 is guaranteed to hit unless you can reset the entropy counter. I believe that a block can reset the entropy counter, and a dodge might be able to. Nevertheless, at some point you will get. Therefore you need to have enough EHP to survive that hit, and enough regen (flask, energy shield recharge, leech) to get all those hitpoints back before the next one lands. A highly effective gem to run with evasion is arctic armour. It can reduce physical damage by about 13% at gem lvl of 19 or higher. For a 10,000 damage hit that equates to 15,000 armour, and for a 5,000 damage hit this is equivalent to 7500pts of armour - both levels you will never get to with all evasion gear. Enfeeble is also highly effective as it directly reduces the accuracy of the enemy and the amount they hit for. Lastly - one of the huge advantages of evasion is that a defender has to roll on a critical hit. This reduces spikey damage significantly. If you have 90% evasion, it means 90% to avoid critical damage IF a hit does occur. That means that the 5000pt hit is not likely to turn into a 7,500pt hit. |

As has been pointed out: Your gear/setup can be improved a lot.
The obvious way to reach the cap is to use an ascendancy (at least Raider and Trickster got sth) for it. No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

Well that was just a project didn't expect much or prepare for it just did something on std while waiting for league:(
Ty for your opinions and some explanations tho. "that moment when you have tons of evasion and you die from 1 spell on a nice map" :) I also did 74/75 dodge char but wasn't that great life was like 4k casue dodge gear don't hava any life base. In order to get rid of clearspeed meta cap global movement speed at 100% but make all skills instant so everything feels great. Last edited by BarteKai#0807 on Nov 27, 2016, 12:52:49 PM

Yeah - you need a ton of EHP when doing evasion/dodge. I'm wondering if ES isn't the best way to go, since you have a built in way of regenning between hits
