Planning a Whispering Ice build

More accurate stats now that I have the game open, rectified the couple of omissions from the gear and leveled the supports a bit.

It occurs to me that Shaper of Desolation is rather useless if I'm unable to cause elemental status ailments due to the elemental focus support. So maybe drop that and take the small node after Pendulum of Destruction instead. It's too bad Mastermind of Discord works the way it does, requiring a fire skill for cold peneration and not the other way around; otherwise it would've been very useful for a cold-to-fire build like this. Now it would require micromanagement with a lightning skill to get the fire penetration. Still, maybe it's more useful than the to-be-orphaned small node before Desolation.

Spell Echo makes the build feel slightly sluggish, with every activation of Icestorm locking me in place for 0.82 seconds. It's sometimes hard to refresh curses or summon totems in the heat of battle. Switching it to a faster casting would reduce DPS by about 25% though and also increase mana consumption since every cast would have to be paid for.

I could maybe bless and divine the Pyre for the few extra percents of cold and fire resistances.

Do you think the chest is worth further crafting? With the last suffix blocked by a crafted mod, it could roll life, mana, hybrid ES or reflect as a prefix. Out of those life and hybrid ES would be very useful, mana would be kinda ok and reflect would be useless. So 50% chance of significant improvement with an exalt. Or I could try to get better resists by crafting prefixes cannot be changed and chaosing it. There are eight possible suffixes, out of which four are resistances and intelligence is also useful. I only have nine exalts so can't try it too many times.
