The reason Blade Flurry is so good
" By definition, having area of effect will eventually allow you to clear an entire screen if you build around it. For example: Heavy strike - true melee , no one can argue this right? heavy strike + melee splash - still melee? cleave with + iaoe - still melee? EQ + conce effect - still melee? EQ + iaoe - definitely not melee? blade flurry + iaoe - definitely not melee? See the issue? There is no definitive line and anything prior to EQ is absolutely and utter garbage beyond words. Especially cleave, that thing needs more buffs than wild fucking strike. As a side note, mirrored loath banes will finally get a week of action before being relegated to the dumpster bin again. the issue isnt hitting large areas
the issue is hitting large areas while not being in melee range cyclone = melee. its aoe can extend offscreen but you need to have a monster in your weapon range to do that eq, bf = not melee. the nearest mob can be just coming in from offscreen and bf will aim at it Last edited by grepman#2451 on Nov 18, 2016, 5:51:19 PM

" Very true. Blade Flurry is a fantastic skill. I took my original Shadow exile I named Arrownous but had shelved over 2 years ago at level 80, respec'ed with 99 points and using build guilds from Mathil and another from the PoE build forum and created a BF build that is unbelievably powerful. I have a lot of unused unique gear in Standard League so I dusted these off: and I'm loving the results. Re-using an old build is weird, it shows me well into maps but Act 4 was missing so I had to kill Merc Dominus and his minnions and I had to do all 3 Lab runs. I was amazed at how fast I wiped out all his minions, then his first and 2nd form. Some of the ease is definitely from the fact my exile is level 80 (major overlevel) but a crit BF build using Bino's knife is a great skill to play. I blew through Act 4 in record time (for me) in about 1 hour destroying all mobs and bosses quickly. Even the last 4 bosses in Merciless BoTB were a piece of cake. I stopped at Merc Malachai as it was late last night and I was tired and also there is no reason to. Using Bino's knife for the poison and increased crit makes BF a super powerful skill and breaths new "fun to play" life into my PoE playing. Yes, you're reading me correctly Bars, a crit Blade Furry build is fun to play. This comes from a PoE loyalist who has gotten majorly burned out this year and was really negative on PoE of late. I'm super glad that GGG is finally buffing up the melee skills. It's been needed for a very long time. Edit: But I can see the shit hit the fan when the other buffs come and the shit storm of posts about melee skills being too OP and then "GGG please nerf". Hey GGG, please ignore the "please nerf melee skills" forever. Melee has been neglected for far too long so buffing them so that they will be used is important. I'm a long time PoE loyalist and I'm usually quick with the negative posts but this time the need to make playing melee "fun" again is important and does require buffing them to make getting to the endgame not require full time slaving. Blade Flurry is a perfect example of a fun-to-play melee skill. DO NOT NERF! "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..." Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. well i do hope we will see a balance factor, that they learned by deeply trying the builds/new uniques and so on, just to see a compleat balance since it hurts to see that middle of builds it might be "changed", the effects just for not really trying out the "builds" compleatly.
It need to be a deeper look into this so it not making people angry, but allows people to work on builds when new seasons come and not required to regret their decisions later because of a huge nerf they forgot to look into it. |

" There is no way in the world that GGG can play test even a fraction of the combinations of gear that we can use and thus when skills are buffed to get more players to use them (in this case melee skills) in such a short time there are bound to be buffed skills + gear combos + skillful use of the passive tree + jewels + auras + curses that will produce an uber build. Just look at my post a few up in this thread where I took many uniques I had accumulated in my 4 years of SSF playing, the Blade Flurry skill, and using a Mathil build guide video as a guide I respec'd an old Shadow and now face rolled Merciless act 4 in record time. The combination of gear and my use of the passive tree + jewels is specific to my choices and won't be duplicated exactly by anyone else. So GGG can never test to find out which buffed skills will allow us to produce uber builds, that which are referred to as "too OP". All GGG can do is buff unused skills, see if and how they're now being used, and if it turns out that a specific skill such as Blade Vortex is being used by a majority of the builds that can do Guardian and Shaper runs (top difficulty), then and only then with enough statistical data GGG can and should nerf the skill for the next 3 month challenge league. Edit: I firmly believe that GGG should never nerf a skill mid-league. Buffing a dead unused skill can be done anytime, but nerfing a skill at anytime during a challenge league is going to outrage everyone using it and get a flood of hate posts. GGG needs all the time to compile stats on the skills so that the nerf can be done between leagues. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..." " What suggestions do you have to make melee feel more melee and still compete with the other playstyles? I am sure GGG is open to any suggestions. In reality, increasing range and aoe is one of the very few ways to keep melee competetive with other builds. If they don't add skills like this the game is left with more useless melee skills very few people are playing. |

" I was going to post a "no nerf blade flurry" but i feel this sums up what i feel. Games are supposed to be fun, i've been playing more again because of this skill. If you can't control it, STOP.
