its 500 eur for the 1TB in my country

You don't need a 1 TB.

All you need is enough space to install your OS and your games/programs alongside. Use a second, cheap mechanical drive for your data.

A bigger one is also faster, I suppose you'd want to be as satisfied with your purchase as possible if you've managed to get yourself to break the piggybank. Let's say 256gb is a good spot to aim for, not too small and not too expensive, it might cost a meal where Shags comes from but somewhere else it's half a month of meals.

That's true as well, raics.

I went with a 256
Price ranges from $50 to $1000+.... so we're probably not talking about the same product. I'm talking budget. Last year's model, or even one that's older than that. You can get quite a performance upgrade with a $50 version over not having one at all.

The 80-100 Euro range seems to be the best cost/efficiency ratio to me, at least that's what I went with when I was buying mine - and I didn't have hard budget constraints.
You have to be realistic about these things.

Yeah, well, if we're talking about a decent 256GB model it's 100€ that will never go into the home budget. First you have to set it aside, which is the easy part, the hard part is petitioning your wife for unplanned expense and I'm afraid they only know the difference between a computer that works and one that doesn't. Be prepared to pay the luxury tax, this way or that.

I bought a new computer a month ago. Program Files on my old drive was 500gb, give or take. Quite content with my obviously excessively large 1TB SSD, personally :P
Went with the Samsung EVO model, for reference.

OP, since you have 16GB of RAM you can put PoE on a RAMDisk
reddit tutorial link
I've used SoftPerfect RAM disk before but gave up on it as I had to recreate the image when new patches increased the size of the ggpk file (you can use the GGPK defrag tool to keep the file size small or create a large container file). The performance on a RAMDisk is better than on an SSD but using that should give you an estimate of performance gain you'll see when migrating from an HDD.
Get an SSD

I would say that if you like to push really hard for an in game economy advantage early in the league and do something like speed run dried lake, it makes a HUGE difference.
I have sub 5 second load times, i barely see the new load screens.

Lab is a chore

Delve / Harbinger / Incursion / Delirium best leagues.

Pro is faster and has a longer lifespan. Evo speed is about on par given perfect circumstances, but has a shorter lifespan due to different technology. The evo ones also work with some sort of cache and when that is full due to working with super large files for example, its performance can tank noticeable.

Unless you work with huge files on a daily basis, I recommend getting the evo.
