Slowly progressing through playing the game and selling what you find is my jam. Why would you put in so much effort, it's not even a competition where you win anything valuable?

The solution is to streamline trading so flipping becomes impossible.
I have a flipper crew every league I play. It becomes insufferable to do after a few days. Good profit, but god is it boring.

Wow, just as bad as all the people that have to do mental gymnastics to find something good to say about the American republican candidate.
How in the world can you state "you don't have to trade" when you know full well that GGG has coded PoE around trading and if we go SSF route that our endgame choices are severely limited meaning we won't advance a build as far as those that do trade? Why not go all the way and state " playing PoE is optional." That explains why Garena is shutting down the Malaysia realm as "buying mtx is optional". After all PoE is "free to play" so any mtx is in truth "optional". If GGG thinks any of this is true then they are really biting the hands that feed them.
By your logic then GGG should stop making new acts and concentrate on making PoE: ARPG Commodity Trading Simulator. Hmm... it does abbr. to ACTS. If this continues more likely GGG will get the financial AXE and be forced out of business.
Running maps above t10 is optional .

For every league so far, I've killed monsters to get what I want(found every unique item/currency in the game myself, excluding mirror). And rarely ever traded. Trading is optional. Yes, you do have players who flip items 24/7, I do not consider those players tbh. But on the other hand there are also players that hunt monsters, and do not, or barely ever trade(like me).
Just have to not care if the flippers have 1 or 1 million exalted. Just game on and have fun :)
I do not consider the lab and trials as optional, because you have to do them to get the points. But I do consider trading optional! To those claiming trading isn't optional, you're wrong, many players do without trading or with very limited trading.

Years ago I left the game for the reason that when asked for the possibility of a solo league the devs answered with a "not ever" kind of statement.
I've come back a couple of weeks ago and I'm already at a point where trading seems the only option forward:
- crafting is too random and expensive, even with essences
- the items I find are so useless I can't even gift them away to new players
- the uniques I find are also useless, even when I can actually wear them
The game is built to be played up to level 70-75, then it's meant to be meta-played through trading.
I really wanted to get back into the game, but seeing how things are shaping up I don't think I'll come back for the new season.
Hell, I don't even know if I'll stay till the end of this one.

Yes, playing to win is much better than trading to win.
Today (one day after the US presidential election) there is even more bad news as the PoE stock market is likely to tank same as US real stock market. Very sad indeed.
