If you're arguing scrolls only, I think a better solution is to do what D3 did - just get rid of them. They add nothing except a hurdle, and they're always in short supply early on in leagues. Something I think is both intended and desired.
I doubt they'll change/add something like this.
well the suggestion wasnt just for the purposes of autolooting scrolls but comeon, how many of us have ran away from a chaos orb or augmentation orb because it was on the other side of the screen while mapping etc
I have. Many people in high tier maps do. 1c is nothing, literally. If you wont stop mapping to trade for 1c then theres no reason to waste time backtracking for 1c or less. Much more efficient to just keep going and get more maps done in less time.

EXACTLY. would be nice of these sort of trade-offs arent part of the game imo- noones getting rich by doing this, simply improving the playable experience ...... i think anyways

nope.
a game lives from players having options to play it differently and to be differently successful with each strategy.
the decision which items to pick up is the most important one in poe.
if ggg implemented a auto-pickup for scrolls they could as well just remove them from the game.

I remember when people at d3 forums suggested same thing, developer answered that they wont put auto loot because they want players to have more active play style lol.
On topic, I'm against autoloot. Simply because I dont see any possiblity of it happening, ever. That's the way of this game.

There is no decision making in what to loot. Not with item filters. 99% of items are junk.
If you are aiming to waste less time and be more efficient these are the only things you pick up.
1. Currency ( anything less than 1c not so much at high tier mapping )
2. Rare / Magic Jewelry
3. Rare Belts
4. 6 socket and 5 link bases
5. White bases (High item level ones used for crafting).
6. Items that can be chanced for rare uniques (Agates for Volls devotion, leather belts for HeadHunter as examples. This is a low level money making method)
Chaos and regal recipes are not worth your time for the stash space wasted. Even if you have 30-100 stash tabs or more.
So when you only pick up a handful of items its not really much of a choice. Its just picking up what you know has potential. Low level nothing is worth picking up unless you need to fill a slot, of course excluding currency. The ones listed are mostly for after beating merciless.

I'd like to agree with you but at a certain point you dont pickup crafting bases anymore, you dont pickup magical anything, you dont pickup 5links unless 6socket, you dont pickup white leather belts since you cant chance them anymore etc....
There are a few universal items or forms of currency everyone should pickup however that would be a purpose of the auto-looting feature though...

you would be surprised how much money i have made selling magic jewelry from high tier maps. its one of the least picked up items people definitely should be picking up. a magic item with great rolls is much easier to craft the way you want. especially when you can lock prefixes and suffixes to change 1 soecific affix to your liking. its a true end game mechanic few ever do.
also there are many bases people will buy. an example is sacrificial garbs. the agates ( i sell 3 for 1 chaos) and leather belts are always sellable. i sell 6 leather belts for 1 chaos. Even moonstone rings sell 6:1. Buying these from vendors and picking them up in maps will always bring long term profit for when people need 2k or more to tty chancing uniques in general or zana maps. If you save up high item level harbinger bows and other bases people will buy them.
i will agree you dont need to pick up 5 links, but if they are on a good base, like sacrificial garbs, people will pay more for it, even if its just a base.

Maybe an MTX or maybe a third party mod endorsed by ggg like a loot filter (obv not the same)
Checkbox interface to choose which orbs/scrolls etc to pick up automatically provided you are running overtop of them or close - i dont know the mechanics of how this would work or even get permitted.
I have a feeling this would help the newer players moreso than those who have played a longtime, increase availability of midrange orbs and perhaps more crafting, currency to upgrade etc
I was too lazy to search this site though for any related recommendations though so this could have already been rejected for a reason or many by GG
what are your guys thoughts.................
I think something like this is already there in diablo 3 and possibly torchlight 2. Good idea.

if i cant be bothered to run across the screen to pick up alchs chances or chaos orbs- im not stocking up on 3:1 or 6:1 items.... my trade messages would go through the roof-- another reason to have an autoloot function .... people could slowly build currency instead of completely relying on trading (atleast help this way a bit)

When i go to town to vendor stuff i just buy all the white agates and leather belts and stash them. I dont put them up for sale. Then when i got a few tabs of each i sell them all at once and usually 1 person buys all the belts and 1 person buys all the agates. Its very quick. No need to try and sell them when you dont have a lot. Its a very easy way to quickly net 60c every other day which is almost an exalt on SC.
