I always hear namelocking is 'bad' in PoE. Is it also 'bad' in other ARPGs ?
" Is this really all that you were getting at? :P I was going to include "existence of superior alternatives to namelock skills" as one of the reasons for PoE being "special," but I got distracted by some of the other banter in this thread in the meantime. "Im just exploring shit. alternatives to namelock is the same as aoe at this point, isnt it ? I mean anything and everything is aoe. I play a wild strike build right now, and while its namelock, even it feels like Im playing essentially an aoe build. if no namelock, it might as well be an aoe skill with secondary effect being a space and crowd-based effect. you just to have the initial melee hit actually land, which I like. oh and knockback with namelock is glorious. no, I mean it, Im enjoying knockback with namelock, which most people hate. |

" So your rebuttal to most of my points, is to use shift click to completely circumvent the namelocking mechanic? The logic in this one is strong. |

"Im glad you like insults, but I won't stoop down to your level, sorry. if you miss an attack aimed at a target, and hit a target in an area around the spot you missed, you just had an area attack. ie, you attacked an area instead of a target. thus, you invalidate the whole point of 'aiming'. why aim if you still hit shit regardless ? press the button in a direction and you land an attack in 'general area'. |

"can you reply to all or dont reply at all ? I said if you dont like walking to shit to hit, you can use shift click. I dont think it completely circumvent namelocking. shift clicking merely keeps you in place, you still have to aim. if you miss a moving target, you still miss it and not autoaim. skills with namelock that have secondary effects (frostblades, wild strike) wont have secondary effects unless they hit something, as well. I also mentioned, in the wall of text (its holy, btw), that I dont really consider namelocking a skill thing, more of an 'effort' and 'focus' thing. this is probably another argument altogether, but I dont consider things that dont correlate to skill level inherently bad. more effort that doesnt have to do with skill level, isnt inherently bad or inferior to me, because - again- I dont give a crap how 'clunky' things are. so your assumption is incorrect |

"fair enough, area attack (not of effect). I stand corrected. you click on an area, and then the area picks out one enemy to which damage is dealt. spatially, its an area attack. ie, you are aiming in an area pattern. Last edited by grepman#2451 on Oct 24, 2016, 4:25:08 PM

" To be frank, you dont deserve the effort. You are circlejerking arguments and contradicting yourself. You are baiting others and are paraphrasing every post into "we want autoaim". If you cant do the minimal effort to reply to someones post in earnest, i cant be bothered either. " answer " |
