Kaom's gives you 1k life or 500 life.

Brass Dome renders all enemy crits ineffective.

Kaom's is if you cannot get enough life to survive base damage.

Brass Dome is if you can handle base damage and want to render crits ineffective.
whats base damage for essence hardcore league? btw my char is inmortally on hc essence if u need to check build/gear

6k won't be, given multiple hits in a very short period of time. Atziri's dual flameblasts can take you down.

It will be enough until the moment you rip.

50k.

It's not just life. It's your EHP.

1k life can withstand a 10k crit-because it mitigates it down to the normal 5k (Brass Dome) and then another 89% of it through other methods.

Brass Dome isn't something you use alone. Just the same with everything else in this game.

I'm planning on an ES build that stacks as much ES as it can while using Brass Dome. It deals with spike damage via Brass Dome and being an ES build, and then will stack Reckless Defense jewels to counter burst damage from attacks/spells since they won't offer any significant drawback (who cares if I get crit 100% of the time if crits don't deal additional damage?).

Even if you don't take additional damage, wouldn't you get status ailments more often because of all the crits though ?

One does not simply take "x% of physical damage taken as lightning" and "-60% lightning resistance" and not compensate for the changes.

If you're being crit, you'll always be afflicted with status effects. However, damage is based only on normal values compared to your life prior to CI. As such, you should still run around with proper flasks.
You will always RIP in HC eventually. Question is, what type of player are you? Myself I like running high armor, EC, fortify on my characters. Then I feel like the damage I do take is mostly elemental, no clue how crits affect the outcome but personally I would feel safer with more life than less.

The thought of not having +life on chest makes me shiver. Only reason I could think of for going brass dome is the ascendancy point "unbreakable" for jugg.

But whatever, I ripped a fully geared, lvl 90, max-block aegis 1h EQ toon to normal atziri trio. No clue what happened, probably an unlucky burst of damage, bad rng and bad reflexes. Point is: everyone can rip. Do it with style, the way you want!
