Vaal Oversoul is the worst story boss in the game

I always thought, other than being kind of too drawn out, that the activation sequence was pretty cool. The time it takes for the exit to open after killing the boss is kind of nuts tho, that always has and still feels like a bug or something.

Speed up the exit sequence +1

It seems like I should have seen it. Though w/Atziri if I open portal it will be outside the room. But I could have sworn I have opened portal in act 2. Maybe not the right sequence?

He made me quit game in beta when he first came out, glad they toned down his rock fall attack. I couldnt get past lvl 65.

I agree though, i dont like hide and seek bosses where they call timeout and go immune/unattackable

I played on a terrible performing laptop in closed beta, I died so often to him when he was released :P

It was quite hillarious that when I reached him in Cruel, Ruthless and Merciless he was so easy on a PC that actually had double digits fps :P

I like bosses that remove themself for an add phase or such. This is the reason some of them are even doable for certain builds, some just need a bit of recovery in between, although the Oversoul might overdo it a bit. But Malachai when he goes to one of the Hearts to use it is a good way to pause the fight a little bit.

PS: Dominus phase transition though is also a bit longish.

Wait time before fight is ok, though it could be spiced up a little.
Death animation is nice to have, but no reason to lock doors until end of it. It coulb be kind of like showing no respect to your enemies, by ignorimg them in their death and moving on like a demigod that zou are.

This would only be cool for Malachai because he explodes... if there is ever PoE the Movie I want whoever kills Malachai to just walk away while he crumbles and explodes in the back... thats back ass.

Or like I usually do... I open my own portal before he finishs exploding because I hate waiting that long :P


I think Oversoul locks the door even longer than her death animation, I think those ghosts leaving the body have to fly away first before the doors open, but the body collapses a lot quicker.

I think Vaal Oversoul's chilled ground attack needs some teeth, or maybe just a rework. It's not scary at all, it's just annoying. I'd say add some AoE cold damage at the time the ground is created, so it's actually, you know, an attack.

Laser is great, falling rocks okay, the slam is iconic. I don't think any of his other moves really need anything. It might be cool to add some burning ground to the spot he slams on... but that'd be about it.

Yeah I just killed him again and waited til the damn door opens. I assume he opens this door slowly on purpose. I nowadays most builds kill him before he can submerge after spawning adds^^.
