[2.6] [SC/HC] Saboquisitor MoM Pure Cold damage with Hrimburn [77-158 less cold res]



Hello guys (sorry my english),

I was doing a build of Blast Rain Miner and was very dissatisfied with the results. So I decided to make a trapper using spells with another character. At first I was wanting to test a trapper using only Frost Bomb trap , so I was leveling and using Ice Trap to help. But the combination of Frost Bomb trap and Ice Trap was so successful that now use both being still Frost Bomb the main skill (until 6L) and Ice trap secondary skill (only 4L).

I killed Dominus and Voll very fast level 64. Level 63 I did full clear a Desert Map (level 68) no problems.

I'm so excited about the results that the level 65 character is killing everything very fast and decided to share with you. Over time I will updating.

Goal with this build:
- Kill all white and blue mobs just using 1 or 2 traps.
- Cheap and powerfull (cheap 5L with Deerstalker).
- Tank enough to be viable hardcore.
- Accumulate as much AoE the tree + gear to avoid having to use Increased AoE gem.
- The defensive set based on MoM + largue free pool mana (using only clarity max level and AA) + gear + others temporary defenses (flasks + fortify + Blinding Assalt).
- Very easy to play and very fast to clear.
- High reduced cold resistance to strong enemies.
- It be viable high tier maps same using Deerstalker.


Buff to elemental builds in the 2.5.0 patch!

This mod appears at slightly higher values in higher-tier maps. This will replace the element-specific resistance mods. They'll no longer be able to appear on maps.

Map tier 1 (white) is 20%, tier 2 (yellow) is 30% and tier 3 (red) is 40%. Buff of 40% more damage in tier 3 maps with this mod.

How it work?
Basically you will spam traps (70% trap recovery cooldown) to all be destroyed and what not die your ignite damage will end the service. With until -158% of cold resistence theoretically this is even better than inquisitor in several situations (making enemies have negative resistance).
This tree you have 5 sockets and you'll use until 3 Unstable Payload (buy well rolled with at least 10%), you'll have al least 40% of chance for traps to trigger an additional time, and 1 Hair Trigger, then imagine the damage with until -158% of cold resistance.

Play style
Use Ice Trap to kill white and blues (sometimes use Bomb Frost in blue, depending on the case) and massive Frost Bomb in uniques with spam of Ice Trap, kills very fast.

How -158% less cold resistance?
Cold Penetration level 21 (38%) + High Explosives (10%) + Explosive Expert (10%) + Frost Bomb (-20% cold resistance) + Level 21 Elemental Weakness (40%) + Level 21 Frostbite (40%) = -158% less cold resistance.

Elemental Weakness will increase the ignite damage give by Hrimburn.

Bosses has 60% less curse effect, then against bosses you'll have -110% less cold resistance. :)

This build becomes less efficient against unique monsters if you have a map with prefix +x% monster elemental resistance.

Ascendancy
Yes, Sabouter is the King this build. From Chain Reation is the godlike this build. :D

Make your way in order to Bomb Specialist > Chain Reaction (godlike) > Explosive Expert > Blinding Assalt.

Usefull essences to this build

Always use theses essences in high ilevel items: body armour, gloves and shields at least +82; weapons at least +81, rings and amulets at least +81; belts at least +80. All preferably +84.

Essence of Insanity
Gloves: Socketed Gems hav 25% more Attack and Cast Speed (socketed Whirling Blades here)

Essence of Delirium
Gloves: Socketed Gems deal 30% more Damage over Time

Essence of Hysteria
Gloves: Socketed Gems deal 175 to 225 additional Fire Damage
Belt: Damage Penetrates 5% Elemental Resistances while using a Flask

Essence of Horror
Gloves: Socketed Gems have +3% Critical Strike Chance
Body Armour: 15% of Physical Damage taken as Cold Damage (With this you can remove Cloak of Flame, you mitigation will drop a little, was 15% physical damage mitigated, to 11,25%, but you can have life and resist, ES, and other things)
Helmet: Socketed Gems deal 30% more Elemental Damage

The damage shown here is estimated by the Path of Building at level 91, with some math additions made by me, you can see in practice how strong this combination is, you can play up to 9 traps at the same time with all of them triggered without fail ensuring full damage. Against stronger enemies (like bosses) you'll throw 9 Bomb Frost trap (all will be triggered) and then throw 9 Ice Traps (which will also be triggered), totaling 18 traps with up to 30% more damage at level 91 (Unstable Payload). Consider that for calculation of ignite dps I will use a perfect Cloak of Flame of 50% increased Ignite Duration on Enemies.

Ice trap simple (no curses applied), used against white and blue trash:

8464 x 9 = 76176
With Unstable Payload
76176 * 1,3 = 99028
Total Ignite dps = 6176 * 6 = 37056
Total dps = 99028 + 37056 = 136084 dps

Bomb Frost simple (no curses applied), used against blue with elemental resist:


13272 x 9 = 119448
With Unstable Payload
119448 * 1,3 = 155282
Total Ignite dps = 12733 * 6 = 76398
Total dps = 155282 + 76398 = 231680 dps

Ice trap full (with curses applied), used against stronger mobs like rare monsters with elemental resistance and unique monsters (exiles, bosses, mini-bosses, etc):


9618 x 9 = 86562
With Unstable Payload
86562 * 1,3 = 112530
Total Ignite dps = 6035 * 6 = 36210
Total dps = 112530 + 36210 = 148740 dps

Bomb Frost full (with curses applied), used against stronger mobs like rare monsters with elemental resistance and unique monsters (exiles, bosses, mini-bosses, etc):

With Unstable Payload
119448 * 1,3 = 158453
Total Ignite dps = 11174 * 6 = 67004
Total dps = 158453 + 67004 = 225497 dps

Leveling Guide

In begin use Freeze Pulse and run until Clever Construction, before level 35. Then use to leveling Ice Trap + Cold Snap with Trap. At level 50, you can remove cold snap and use Frost Bomb in your 5L Deerstalker.

I recommend Izaro always go a little beyond the ilvl shown. Go normal Izaro around level 45 or more. Go cruel Izaro level 60 or more. Go merciless Izaro when you feel safe.

From level 60 you have prepared your CwdT set and farm Dried Lake until level 78.

Before to farm maps, already have at least your CwdT set and your chest (rare armour until have Cloak of Flame). Use a rare dagger with at least 120% increased critical chance (global + spell) and with flat cold damage to spells.

Hrimburn

Mandatory this glove. With this you cold damage can ignite and your ignite damage is very strong. Same with the nerf in DoT (traps and mines damage dont more affect DoT) you high base damage + high penetration + your high critical multiplier = strong ignite. Against bosses with immunity to ignite, use Maligaro's Virtuosity. With the 2.6 patch this item gained a small, but very good, flat cold damage to spells. :D

Deerstalker

Very very usefull item, mandatory until you have a real 5L.

Warped Timepiece

Very usefull to your Frost Bomb explodes more fast. The increased attack speed will help you to increase your clear speed.

Cloak of Flame

Great option to hardcore. Nice physical damage mitigation. Well rolled you can have until 50% more ignite damage.

Carcass Jack

Dont is mandatory you have this chest, but It is certainly a great option to softcore league. Hardcore depends of your physical damage mitigation.

Doedre's Damning

With this you'll use 2 curses on enemies. I recommend using this item only when you have 5L on the chest, because without good items will be difficult you get caped elemental res. But if you have elemental res, use this. Remove this if you get a corrupted +1 curse amulet.

Optional but very useful

Dagger:
Divinarius
The AoE bonus + spell damage + critical chance + mana/life gain on kill is perfect to this build.
Cost: around 20-30c
Attack speed: medium

Sword:
Daresso's Passion
Perma (60 to 80)% increased Damage (it double dips with ignite) while you have no Frenzy Charges, with this +3 natural Frenzy charges you'll have 3 frenzy charges (in other words, 12% of cast speed, 12% of attack speed and 12% MORE DAMAGE).
Cost: 1 alchemy
Attack speed: medium/high with 4 Frenzy charges.

Gloves
Only use this glove against enemies with immunity to ignite.
Maligaro's Virtuosity
This item will give to you medium critical chance and multiplier.

Rare Items
A rare good dagger with at least 140% critical chance to spells (global + spell) is very good and flat cold damage. Flat cold damage in the dagger is very important because that Frost Bomb has 130% of damage effectiveness and Ice Trap 110%. Plus is critical multiplier and attack speed in the dagger. The rest of gear the normal: life, mana and resists.

Cast When Damage Taken defense
Basic and mandatory set CwdT (Level 1) + Immortal Call (Level 3) + Increased Duration (max level, if possible q20%) + Arctic Breath. Your Immortal Call will save your life many times and Arctic Breath (Level 4) will chill the ground and complicate to enemies.

You can have other CwdT set CwdT (Level 1) + Greater Multiples Projectiles + Lightning Ball + Knockback. With this you can away very efficiently threats that are very close to you.

Say there was an enemy with 140% Cold resistance, although he is capped at 75. Your curse would reduce him to 100% cold res (still capped at 75), then frost bomb would reduce him to 80% cold resistance (still capped at 75).

Then Penetration kicks in, and your 58 Cold pen reduces him to a cold resistance of 17.

You actually have 58 Cold Pen and 60 Cold Resistance reduction.

Yes, but even powerful monsters do not usually have elemental resistance greater than 50% on maps. For example, Merveil the Returned:

Merveil has 45% to elemental resistance and 22% to chaos resistance.

If a boss has a rare mob close with elemental resistance aura yet I do not think it reaches 80.

If the map has top tier prefix with 80% elemental resistance, then yes the build becomes less efficient. 45 + 80 = 125% of elemental resistance. The Frost Bomb + Elemental Weakness is almost useless. Inquisitor these maps really have advantage.

But the normal is that sometimes you will roll a map with top or mid tier prefix with +60% cold resistance, in most cases there will be in fact a pseudo penetration.
