Have to agree with this, I've never liked the mods that just say "You can't run this map".

I understand it's supposed to be currency sink but... come on, we can do better than this.
BM's occurence rate is what makes it fine...

I guess if you vaal a map and u get bm it sucks but its rare as shit
Or just change it so it doesnt cockblock CI totally?

New map mod:
Players have 0 mana. Players spend hit points instead of mana.

Nothing wrong with BM map mod at all, there are a few that are worse and far more dangerous as well. BM is just a hassle for some builds and a nono for others.

I think the core gameplay idea behind Blood Magic as a map affix if to force players to run less (or no) Auras. So why not change the affix to "x% more Player Mana Reserved?" That forces players to drop some Auras without excluding entire builds - assuming x is chosen carefully so Low Life can still be on Low Life.

CI builds?

BM = insta-reroll currency sink.
CI RF can do BM map fine. Also trickster, Hierophant etc...

I just get a friend to help me with maps I really want to run but that are too hard for my character.

I'd much rather have them remove the "no regen" mod and Temp Chains. Now those are truly annoying ones.

BM is fine, I think. It's a rare roll anyway.
I think the original intention of the CI and BM mapmods are to encourage people to play different characters. And while a CI char can still run (literally) a BM map, the other way aroun is often a bit harder. Yes a CI char can't deal any damage, but he could walk.

Not sure if they still fit, considering how high maps go now and how rarely players might have multiple chars that can tackle those hard mods. Right now it is kinda interesting though that BM is the only mod makes BV struggle.
I think all build-sabotaging map mods should be banished, and Blood Magic is one of the worst. BM is a long-term skill tree commitment that radically impacts your entire build. It's not a straightforward debuff that challenges your build's defenses, it randomly breaks your build's resource management or else has no significant effect at all. Here's my list of build-sabotaging map mods:

Players have Blood Magic
Players have Elemental Equilibrium
Players have no Life or Mana Regeneration
Players have 20-60% less Recovery of Life, Mana and ES
Players cannot Leech Life from Monsters
Players cannot Leech Mana from Monsters

Notice that I don't object to map-wide curses on players. These are legitimate debuffs that all builds must take into account.
