But then you didn't say "I think" or "I believe", you just stated "melee builds are 45x more fun than ranged". Use of "I" statements with the proper subject would have saved the confusion. ;-)

You're not supposed to tank traps.

Armour doesn't help versus damage over time. But there are ways to mitigate. They've been mentioned but certain flasks and endurance charges and reduced damage over time mods help and regen helps. Last time I tested, it only takes 50% of your life. So with a flask you have enough life to withstand at least 2 hits if you use a flask after the first hit. If you get hit more than twice in a row without recovering, your tactics need to get adjusted. Move faster or slow down and time them. Those spikes that pop up have a very predictable pattern. They pop up when others go down and go down when others pop up. Just move to the spot that just went down and wait for the next one to go down and move there. Or just run really fast and beat most of them.
