The Dot spam and Bots

It's spam the same nonetheless. Encouraging the Dot Spam is like encouraging new and veteran players alike to embrace a bad attitude.

It's funny how people refuse to understand some things, who care if it's spam, the goal is to make the bot message disappear ffs, is it so hard to understand ?

Plus what, if you type "xD" in chat and then everyone after you type "xD" you're considered a spammer ? Come on, that's retarded.

Plus plus what with "bad attitude", preventing people from reading RMT bullshit is bad attitude ? You're the owner of one of the RMT site or what ?

Completely agree. Sometimes you have to bend the rules a little, when nothing else is getting the job done. Mindless droning = bad

Hey there, I'd like to chime in about this.

The Support team gets rid of spambots in-game within a few seconds of their first line of spam, so there's actually no need to spam chat with full stops in order to "combat" the spammers as they're already gone.

The full stops are very disruptive to chat: they do constitute as spam, and if you spam chat then your account may be muted.
How about you guys get the chat system automatically remove/clear only that chat msg the RMT-spambot just typed @ the sec you banned them.

The community just wanna get rid of the wall of text, sometimes i might be too busy to type "dot" but it is not an issue because there are enough players taking care of it for me.

Infact I have seen RMT-spambot able to do 2-3 successive wall of text msg b4 getting banned. Thats means that you guys arent fast enough.

If you dont have a 100% solution to fix this, just let the players take care of themselves. Leave them alone.

I guess Rachel and staff just don't play the game. Great, if they're working on it. Not so great when they can't see a simple issue.
What are dot spams? It's when people just type "." in chat?

I never seen any RMT line in chat btw...
you either get sorted into the channels not frequented by the bots or just really lucky. and yes the posts where users type '.'

The messages are being stopped quickly. If you pay attention the spams are usually in waves of different accounts. You aren't seeing the same post 3 times from one bot but multiple ones.

I spam dots because it is fun xD

Mods ban dots because fun is not allowed. Any why would anyone be scared to write stupid thing on global if mods give mutes becasue they gave bad day anyway.

Oh you go to X chat for first time and you don't know there are unwritten rules for it? Banned.

If spam isn't allowed, then why would spamming dots be allowed.

Like I don't understand this selective application of rules.

Oh wow, and when everyone post number when someone post facebreakers then it is also spam?
If everyone write xD then it is not spam?
When someone post copy pasta then it is spam?
When someone post stupid bait question it is spam?
When someone write something about politics/sexuality/religion it is spam?

OR GGG should just ban everyone who try to write anything on global 1 and 2 becasue ppl from reddit think it is cancer and spam only?

Also let's don't forget about banning ppl who spam chat when league or race start or end.

oh HC player on rank #1 died? Let's ban everyone who write RIP on chat.

Dot SPAM implies you are spamming dots. IE multiple times, sending content with no value. Responding to a bot spam with more spam is suppose to be better?

If you are POSTING or WRITING your sending it once. politics/sexuality/religion or responding to a stupid question or an global event as a rip has at least SOME type of worth of as a response to an actual thing.

~.~

If someone posts on the forums an image to a post, that isn't spam. When everyone and their moms spams the exact type of image on the forums over and over with no select purpose other then to remove the thread then yes you are spamming.

If GGG is watching chat and almost always bans the bot right after the spam, why are people making it more difficult for them to ban the bot.

Like make a suggestion for them to remove the line of text after the bot gets banned or some shit. If I spam "." at you all day in-game or in PMs in the forums, it's not spam right.

Stupid analogy. The forum doesn't have a spambot problem that GGG is powerless against.

The bot's spam still remains, regardless of the ban. Another bot is quickly created.

Really? Even if they view the chat exactly as we do, it's very easy to just scroll upwards, and the chat stops scrolling. Are you saying they're incompetent or what? It's not hard at all, it just doesn't really help, does it?

sounds great, this will stop the dots. the dots are not purposeless like you implied earlier

I like how spamming "RIP GG NOOB" for an entire chat pane in hardcore is not disruptive to chat but players get 24 hour bans for spamming a few punctuation marks to clear the screen from item sellers. You guys have all of your development and support priorities backwards.

Alternative action list :

1. Leave global
2. Use /clear
3. Ignore spammer and then /clear

As opposed to....just typing a dot?

And what is the action when the ignore list is full?

Your right they straight up just mute spammers such as bots and people who spam "."s
"

The bot's spam still remains, regardless of the ban. Another bot is quickly created.

So are people who spam ".", should we have an endless hoard of bots and "."s in global chat then?
"

"

The purpose is to fix the bot spamming, not fixing the "dots". The dots is just more spamming after the bot spams.

"
Stupid thing to say.

How is that stupid? If people talk about stupid shit in global, type XD after a joke, or spam RIP after someone dies. There is an exact purpose and response to why they say it, making the minimalist form of conversions. I don't type XD after every joke, nor does every single person in the entirely of the global chat types XD.

Mindlessly spamming more dots after the endless hoard of bot spamming doesn't make it better, it's just more spamming.

The entirely of global chat spamming "." is spam, that's why you get punished for it. Unless GGG decided that the correct course of action to combat bots is to spam more text (so allowed), then it is still by all definitions spam.

I understand your people attempts are to "Fix" the "annoying spam bot spam" by mass spamming something slightly less annoying, like come on.
