It's simple - zgd speaks fluent english with an intonation of an over excited retarded kid grown up in a farm. Nose brown coloured, swallows on command . Now try this with a chinese. Nah, doesn't work.

"do you watch twitch a lot ? theres a lot (and I mean, a lot) of view botting in general. Ive wandered on a couple of big-viewer streams from unknown streamers streaming poe, and it was clearly view botted. one of them was a russian girl, another a german guy. both had tons of viewers and both didnt even know the basics of poe, and they were advertising as pro poe players. the real big view streamers play poe occasionally and switch to something else in two days. GGG sticks to loyal streamers who always play poe. they also stick to popular ones and ones that dont generate polarizing opinions or dont criticize siht. this is why ziggy is always their go-to streamer. |

" the russian guy play in HC and have 5k of view the chinese guy play softcore ziggd never push ladder, never hundred, never top build ok ziggd win race with few ppl, and races its more "what computer" do u have than yours skills so theres harvoc, zizaran, raizqt, nug...that do better and get far from ziggd in leagues GGG has a dark side, ziggd has 1k ~1,5k of views, chris want this way, cause ziggd are not a top player https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1714428 The end of all that is - The winter has come - Hold the door - The North Remembers

"Im trying to understand why by your logic GGG would give promotion deals to 'top players'. 'top players' != 'top entertainers' or 'top people whod make a product look amazing to others'. PoE isnt competitive enough for top players to be marketable. Guys like Havoc, Etup or Helman arent marketable, even though theyre top players. a streamer like ProjectPT who is a very very knowledgeable guy, is also not marketable to GGG at all. a person who cant speak english well is also not marketable for GGG. they need someone super positive about the game, super social, popular, entertaining and someone who can market the game to another crowd. and ziggy fits this to a tee. hes popular, enthusiastic, extremely sugar-coats very few criticisms he can muster, and is very PC. he's the perfect guy for this role. " GGG choose what they want https://www.twitch.tv/directory <--- and these are the top games that dont kick off russians and chinese ppl to promote one guy that play fallout when dies I dont like chris promotion I dont buy the idea theres a lot of feedback with top streamers that play this game well, and GGG dont give a fuck, this game could be better, if chris obstinacy ends, just listen ppl that play end game, that do top builds, that show bugs, crash, DC, not this guy that never will talk one word about game issues just to keep your job if u dont understand, believe me, this game has so much potential, so many things to do, to improve, only need truly feedbacks, believe more when I say I'm still here cause lost ark dont have english version yet my computer can run lost ark but I die in POE because chris think that game is perfect? that this game will survive only with commercials? I dont need fake feedbacks, I want see ppl talking about true, not this sad and dirty promotion game that GGG want play The end of all that is - The winter has come - Hold the door - The North Remembers I hope you have a good life on the other side of the wall “Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.” Gen. The nature of lies is one of parasitism. Without truth, lies are nothing; they are utterly dependent upon truths for survival. It's a mistake to think of truth and lies as opposites unless one thinks of cats and fleas as opposites. And it should never surprise you to find that the thing you find which was so true, so lie-free, would be conveted by, discovered by, corrupted by liars. It's what they do.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

Moshe, marketing strategies work in a different way than you think. You promote a lustrous face, but not the skilled ugly worker from behind the scenes. Poor bastard won't sell shit.

"this post is all over the place, honestly. not sure what you're talking about anymore. I dont blame GGG for choosing Ziggy as the community's ambassador - he is, again, perfect for it from their standpoint. |

@Moshe - addressing a few of your points:
1. GGG should listen to the top players: There is a huge, enormous gap between the top players and the normal ones. The top players aren't the 1% as they are popularly called. They are a few highly visible guys who are the absolute tip of the iceberg. They are players with top-end theoretical and practical knowledge, experience and dedication who have optimized every action they perform to the point where they achieve as much in one hour as someone who's good enough to be in the top 1% would achieve in three or four. And they also play a lot. They play as much PoE every day as most people with a normal work and life schedule play in a week. The difference becomes exponential from the rest of the population - to the point where you can't really compare them. These people are the absolute exception. Balancing the game around their input, as well-meaning as it may be, wouldn't always be a great idea. Something they perceive as overly easy would be a nightmarish grind for most players. Of course GGG wouldn't listen exclusively to a small fraction of the population. They might sometimes have great ideas and insight about PoE, but for some things their viewpoint is extremely skewed. 2. GGG shouldn't use ZiggyD for promotional videos: ZiggyD is a relentlessly positive, cheerful and likeable personality. He is the marketing guy's dream come true. The honest enthusiasm, the babyface, the infectious laugh when he dies, native English speaker, he even lives in the relative vicinity, so he's part of GGG's cultural environment. He has always been a positive force in PoE and he has always represented the more human part of the player base. The players who don't necessarily flashfarm ten maps per hour for 12 hours a day, the ones who always fuck up and die in HC, the ones who see a new skill and don't start juggling calculations in their mind a la John Nash in A Beatiful Mind, they think 'That looks cool! What could I do with it?'. An overwhelming portion of PoE's population can easily identify with him and relate to him even if we put the bubbling personality aside. He is the best possible promoter for their videos GGG could wish for - by miles. The choice is so incredibly obvious, I don't even know why we are discussing it. Why don't you imagine some of the actual PoE elite doing promotional videos instead? Imagine baked chicken doing a new map reveal. He'll scare away 99% of the viewers. They'll tell themselves 'wtf, do I need to be like a pro starcraft player with 300 APM to play this shit? What's that, a second job harder than my real job? I'm out of here!'. Or maybe a promotional video with Mathil and one of his glass cannon builds: 'So, I'm going to reveal the new Gorge boss. It's a giant leapslamming goat which... ooops, I offscreened it. Anyway, I think you are supposed to kite it, I guess' (all this spoken in a mildly bored voice). Or HvC/Etup: A guy with bags under his eyes stares at the screen expressionlessly and grinds ladder XP. He doesn't speak. His current twitch session is 72 hours. Or Krame: 'Hi guys, I just killed Normal Malachai HC solo self-found in twenty minutes and I reached Act 2 Cruel while talking to you, if you want to see the Atlas footage, check again in half an hour when I'll start mapping.' 3. GGG's marketing policies are morally objectionable I don't even know what to say here, it should be so obvious. PoE is a quickly depreciating long-term asset which requires constant input of effort and resources by a bunch of people who are highly qualified and capable, work their asses off and want to live a decent life as a reward for giving us an amazing ARPG game. Of course they will market it. That's what you're supposed to do to survive and prosper. You are aware we are living in a globalized capitalistic world, right? GGG has a product and is trying to sell it. Of course they will want to present it in the best light possible. What's more, everyone else is doing the same to the point where it would look incredibly strange if the producer said something less than positive about their own game. What do you want them to do, select random toxic quotes from reddit or the forum as a 'look how honest we are' policy? You have to be realistic about these things.
