Does Marylene's Fallacy apply before or after the Critical Strike cap?

Cold penetration is way more important than anything else (not counting echo). At worst it gives you 35% more damage, at best it can do over 100%

Adser: I wrote like 3 paragraphs completely agreeing with you and then I realized that the context is an Inquisitor who is presumably reaching 95% crit (99.5% with diamond flask), which means Cold Penetration almost literally does nothing. Lol.

But yeah, even with Inquisitor, if your crit chance is less than 50%, penetration gems will still be very useful.

Assuming best case scenario (100% crit chance) that means the Crit Damage gem is granting 720/600 = 1.2 = 20% more damage, which means most More Damage supports would still technically give more. But yes, 20% more is nothing to sneeze at

Lol you are right, I was just looking at the options that were being provided and not the post made by PaperRat. The original poster did say he was doing an Assassin so I assumed that.

I totally meant Assassin with worthiness of Crit Damage support.
Inquisitor is my char, and for him that support is still very much worth it :).
For Assassin I would go with Cold pen or Pierce over Crit Damage any day of the week.
