What exactly is the point of being permafrozen to death?

Always be prepared to every eventuality, especially in HC, that's Wraeclast for you.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

The point is to teach you that having the "of heat" affix on at least one flask (and preferrably one that stays up for awhile) is mandatory.

People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it.

I open freeze boxes without a freeze flask using portal strat in hc lol. but not always. warding staunching and heat! the trio of necessity.

But truthfully, Imo not really necessary at all until mid+ maps or unless you are CI/low life (low life while leveling, lol). No bleeds do enough damage to do real damage through regular flasks (assuming not underleveled like greater flasks in act 4) anymore aside from maybe unexpected ghosts mobs or extra damage rares but instant flasks will typically provide enough buffer to not die to the bleed even while running away.

before warding is more important cuz vulnerability in lunaris even in normal difficulty was actually dangerous, now I just use a quicksilver of resistance acquired from medicine chest to get through most of the curses, and play safer against the rest of the curses.

definitely as vipermagi said... cover what is worst for your character the most. If you are a self caster warding is almost necessary just in case you get silenced from hexfront or ghost. CB is mostly non-dangerous until maps, so if you are regen/armour char just having armour is basically bleed resistance by nullifying initial hit's damage.

and lastly depends on your confidence in surviving through sketchy situation: you get punctured with 0 armour and have full flasks but no bleed removal and staying still means the mobs are gonna fuck you up: what can you do? certain movement skills won't increase bleed damage, and running while using a flask may lower your net life/second loss and instant flasks let you run a further distance out of range of nasty mobs, portal out... make sure you know where you place your portals in your inventory lol.

it tells you: being frozen is bad, lets do something to avoid it.
