Should GGG be giving 8 tabs now free?

This is the discussion nobody wins because the correct answer that would make everyone happy is "an unlimited amount of tabs".

Obviously, we can't have that and GGG needs to make their money somewhere.

If you're going to complain that you cannot afford a stash tab bundle in a free game and it's unfair, then it kinda sucks but it's life.

The other option would be to make you pay upfront for the game and everyone gets a very high stash tab limit.

I have 27 tabs, I feel fine.
I think new players deserve more than 4 now.
I don't even care if I get any of them, I genuinely only care about PoE retaining new players.
I don't mind either way. I bought 20 stash tabs + 1 currency stash tab and I think GGG deserved the money. The game is good except some things that don't fit my personal taste (like the lab) but other then that, I really enjoy the game, even today. And I think others who spent 100+ hours in this game should also invest at least once money in this game (in your case: stash tabs). On the other side, especially for people who want to try out PoE, the stash just feels so extremely small. If you want to keep some rares + all the other items, 4 stash tabs will be full within 1-2 days of playtime. But then again, 4 is enough to try out the game to your hearts content and if you like it, buy the stash tabs.

As someone who is playing only on 4 tabs, I am on the verge of outright not picking up divination cards anymore, they eat away at the stash tab so much :\

Sure it starts with a bit, but by the end of the league almost a whole stash tab is filled.

Come to think of it I don't think I have ever got anything great from divination cards to begin with (Except that one time I bought 4 cards for Kaom's Heart since I had several).

You think they "deserve" more than 4 tabs? why exactly is that?
6 would be fine I think. 5 tabs and one premium is also a genius idea that would entice newcomers.

Because now we have A LOT more loot to store than back when the game was released.

that's not deserve, that is want. You are asking for $12 from the company, what has anyone done to "deserve" $12 other than pay it? People are playing a game for free, with no material input, they receive exactly what the game promises, entertainment. If the game is not worth $12 to you , then play a cheaper game.....or play this game for free, and accept the limitations levied against those who pay nothing for years of hard work by an indie company.

I think you're missing Raudram's point.

Why give any stash tabs at all? Why not give new players zero, or only one?

Well, clearly someone in GGG made the decision that X stash tabs is the minimum required to enjoy the game at an introductory level. Do you disagree with that person or persons at GGG?

If not, then you shouldn't find it difficult to accept that that established minimum is directly connected to how much a brand-new player just trying the game out is expected to pick up and save, and that that is not the same as it used to be. It's not such a controversial thing to say, no matter how much you love or value the game.
Wash your hands, Exile!
I think the argumentation is reasonable enough for GGG to think about adding 1 or 2 extra stashtabs. Since the introduction of 4 stash tabs, there are really many more items that need to be kept to be useful. The devine cards can't be used until you have enough for them, so you will most likely have most of them for many days. These alone can easily eat a halve stash tab. And there are also alot more Unique and some of them you will probably have some days/weeks.

And elts be honest, at some point, even 6 stash tabs arent enough. If you really want to play PoE for a long time, you will need more then that, especially when you start selling stuff and doing vendor recipes. So you could see it as an investment into new players to make them happy, so that they stick longer with the game and pay for multiple stash tabs in the end.

I didn't miss anything, it is clear to me, by the use of "deserve" that they feel the company somehow owes them more stash tabs. my question was simply what have they done, that makes them feel they are owed something for nothing?

4 stash tabs are plenty for anyone to decide whether or not they enjoy the game or not. it's already been proven you can reach max level with 4. If you enjoy the game enough to feel you want more, then you should pay for them like everyone else has.

I suppose I am old fashioned, but it always boggled my mind how someone could receive something of value from someone else who created it at great expense, completely free of charge, and then still feel they are entitled to even more free stuff.
