He actually picked Passivetree as an valid argument to write about. He says skilltrees are bad. He didnt realize that he also got skilltrees in his home.

The difference is that GGG went D1-route and has 0 skilltrees, just passivetree, and outsorce skills to gems. So basically GGG is on the right track.

Blizzard dumbed down not only diabo3 but also their comm.

To me, this proves one thing, Blizzard is afraid to lose costumers and if they allow a discussion like this take place in their forum, it will likely bring more people to check out POE (with a high chance of captivate the ones that aren't happy with D3) than consolidating their player base.

But yeah, two different games to appease two different kinds of players, so no need to convert or bash others.

What?

Both games are in the same genre and attempt to attract the same players: people who are fans of Diablo and Diablo 2 & the hack n slash genre as a whole.

Both games function fundamentally exactly the same way. You pick a class, you build a character, you kill tons of shit and collect loot to improve your performance in game. IT doesn't matter if some of the game systems vary from one or the other, they are both the same type of game.

If you don't think PoE and Diablo 3 are direct competitors of each other, think again.

My biggest issue with PoE (and I did enjoy my time with the free weekend) is that it seems like the developers are stuck in 1999. Things have changed, the industry has changed, games have evolved. Path of Exile would have been a huge success if it had come out 10 years ago.

PoE is still in beta, and they are still building the mechanics and gameplay. This is why you have not seen much story. They are worried about getting the mechanics right first, then fleshing out the story.

Old ≠ bad

There are a number of older games that I consider better then a lot of the new ones. Basically, better mechanics, story, etc.

I find most of the best games are made by small companies, though some big ones make good games too. Ultima Online is an old game, but it is still a very fun and awesome game to play. None of the modern mmorpg's appeal to me. I like having to make choices in my games, that if I completely screw up I need to start over, because that is more fun then just re-specing every time something doesn't work. Also sometimes it is salvageable too.


I think PoE will do very well. I think with every comparison post on D3 forums the devs probably look up the game site, and I their habit of deleting them makes me think they are getting scared.

man if only you knew what was said on that thread lol.. there is a reason they deleted it.. who wants to read through that many pages of how bad the game is, with that many vulgar words.. obviously blizzard is going to delete it lol, plus it was on the wrong forum, also giving a reason to delete it, blizzard has nothing to worry about, they know for a fact that there will be 300 times more people playing d3 per day then this game will ever have.

you don't know that for a fact, nothing like seeing the numbers when it happens. Sure a lot of people will probably buy and play D3, but then both are still in beta, who knows what the final number will be?

Also I have seen a lot of threads on the Diablo III forum before they got deleted, and none were really vulgar. Some of the threads that just plain criticize Diablo III are worse.

But then you don't care so I'll say good bye.

I am not being hateful just being truthful ;) this game would have prospered greatly in the past. face it its true, and for being mean its a forum haha I can say whatever I want, also you don't actually know my real maturity level and as for how you think of me I really don't give a shit lol, and you have no idea about my life or my childhood or growing up haha, my life is great actually and never been bullied once thank you very much.
