Elemantalist Passive and Elemental Conflux
Must you deal lightning damage to proc the shock effect from either the elementalist passive or elemental conflux? ie: If I deal 100% fire damage, can I still proc shock with either of these?
Elementalist Passive: "5% chance to freeze, shock, and ignite" Elemental Conflux: "While you have elemental conflux, all damage from Hits will cause chill, shock and ignite. Please advise, thank you. Last bumped on Sep 7, 2016, 4:40:22 AM

Normal chance to freeze/shock/ignite still requires you to deal the appropriate damage type, as ignite damage and chill/freeze/shock duration are normally based solely on how much damage of the appropriate element you did. Elemental Conflux, however, is specifcally worded to override this and works for all your damage of any type.

" Follow up question: will using elemental focus in my whispering ice block the shock chance of icestorm considering the above mentioned? |

Yes it will, elemental focus stops you from generating any status effect.
It should not stop the chilling, as whispering ice makes chilled ground. |

Really? I could have sworn slotting in Elemental Focus turned off the chilled ground effect from Vortex.

does vortex have chilled ground or does it just chill though?

" I've seen a post where it is clarified the skill uses a ground effect to apply chill and DoT. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

And it still does that even with Elemental Focus.

Regarding this same elementalist passive node,
Do my ancestral warchief totems take advantage of this chance to ignite, freeze and shock? Or does the damage have to be applied by my character directly? I ask this because if I go Maurader - Chieftan, they'll be doing a considerable amount of fire damage already and any added lightning, cold, etc., should allow them the benefits of the passive node, right?
