PoE turn off my pc
Hello,
As the title says, PoE shuts down my pc, And i dont know why, The screen turns black and all i can hear is this buzzing noise in my headset, The pc is still running but the screen is black and i cant do anything but hard restart it. Sometimes i can play for a hour, sometimes way less like 10-15 min before it happends. And its only PoE that cause this. What i have done so far with no succses is the PoE packcheck, been watching Coretemp and HWmonitor and i cant find anything wrong there. Some help would be nice sense my knowledge of these kinda stuff is not so good. Thanks you for reading this and i hope someone can help me. Last bumped on Jun 16, 2016, 11:20:37 PM

When it crashes, are you able to ALT-Tab or anything? Or do you have a hard-lock and it is completely locked up?
If it is completely locked up, that generally points to a hardware or driver issue... possibly with the Video Card (but not necessarily) |

Its hard-lock, screen turns black. And i hear a buzzing noise on my headset. It have never worked on this pc but work very well on my last one.
This pc specs: Corsair CX 750M, 750W PSU Intel Core i7-5820K, Socket-LGA2011-3 MSI X99S SLI PLUS, Socket-2011-3 Crucial DDR4 2133MHz 16GB (4x4GB) ASUS GeForce GTX 780Ti 3GB PhysX CUDA Crucial MX100 SSD 256GB 2,5" 7mm WD Desktop Green 3TB Its nothing wrong with the pc, works verywell on all other games. So i dont know what to do... |

" It is something wrong with the PC, the game can't turn your PC off, that happens when something on your PC fucks up or overheats...the best the game could do is expose the flaw in your PC that other games can't or don't. Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

Hey,
Although others have expressed doubts that this has anything to do with PoE I think I experienced something similar to yourself yesterday. Playing PoE, game freezes momentarily, screen goes black, buzzing/whirring noise, computer seems to shut down, or just stop responding (I force shutdown in panic to save character - which didn't work PJSalt). I didn't see anything untoward with the system in terms of temps/power/etc. (can't guarantee though). I have a similar PC to yours, maybe not quite as nice but all new components which works flawlessly with other games. Just my 2 cents. Maybe it's not just you and your comp? *shrugs* |

New patch made a lot of people suffer from 100% cpu usage. In return can cause permanent damage to your pc and causing it to "safe" crash itself. That's what happens when your PC can't handle something, it self terminates to "prevent" damage.
GGG fucked up big time with this. I hope they shut the game off until it's fixed. |

" Interesting. This is me just speculating as a semi-technical user, but if it is causing 100% CPU usage, that would cause my CPU fans to up their workload, right? Which might be what explains why I heard some whirring as my computer seemed to just give up mid-way through a game. NB I don't O/C and use a stock Intel fan. |

Stock Intel fan rarely is enough on modern PCs.
It's an unfortunate truth. The new power of the CPU is more than most crappy fan systems can support without severe underclocking. So this goes to what lagwin mentioned. PoE isn't causing the problem, but exposing it in a way that other things don't. But you are also quite right that the 100% CPU for extended times is causing overheat and therefore overworking of the crappy fan/heatsink. |

" Well the stock fan has worked perfectly well on my brand-new i5-6500 since I built my system. I have no heat issues whatsoever. PoE worked just fine for me for several weeks (since I started playing again) until it crapped out that one time the other night. I've even played since. Plus I have no issues with any other games. I'm not sure I agree with your take on stock fans, but even if I did, I still don't think it is relevant to my case. EDIT: I should clarify a bit - what I mean is, for me, in all my experience of using my system for gaming, my stock fan has worked just fine. But let's assume PoE is causing 100% CPU strain all the time. Well, PoE has performed just fine for me for weeks/months and has only had this one crash the other day. Based on our assumption that it is causing 100% strain on the CPU all of the time, I'd think my stock fan is not the issue, since you would expect my problem to occur more than once if the 100% strain was causing overheating to the point that my fans couldn't handle it. This is all assuming that I was not playing for an unusually long period of time, which I wasn't. I had a good 8 hour PoE session not long ago and that went off without a hitch. Now assume PoE is causing 100% CPU strain just sometimes. OK in this case then maybe my fan is partly to blame, since perhaps this (my crash) is the first time the CPU has been put under complete, 100% strain and when it reaches this point is shuts down for safety or something (?) Beyond this, I'm not sure. But I just wanted to clear up my response and my thinking. And I'm still not even sure that I am affected by the CPU load issues. I am honestly just speculating and thinking about it, whilst I wait for GGG support. Just thought I'd lend my thoughts to this thread either way. I'm experiencing insta-shutdowns during PoE gameplay since sth like 1 month. During things which use far more resources than PoE* my pc doesn't crash. I've been swapping power supply, underclocking cpu & gpu, reinstalling windows, monitoring temperatures and voltages, checking ram with memtest, cheching smart of my drives, running PoE at minimal graphical settings and it still crashes the whole pc.
* things like running self-compiled beta of cudaHashcat for 22 hours until it did its job (100% of gpu usage), playing Witcher 3 at custom high/med mixed settings, testing pc with various benchmarks weren't crashing my pc (overclocked during regular usage). It happened sth like 20 times during PoE gameplay so far. As usually, I'll provide some links to other threads with simmilar issues.
